My first Yorkie... I am brand new here. I do not have a Yorkie as of yet, but I am getting my 1st in 3 weeks. (Maybe sooner) My baby girl will be about 8 weeks when I get her. I am so excited. I haven't thought of anything else in the last 2 weeks. Any tips. Anything special I should get to be prepared for her? I have picked out my vet, and grooming service, and I got a playpen for her. What else? |
Congratulations and welcome to YT. I think if you have food and water and lots of love you will be fine. I know lots of people on here use crates and peepads, but I just let Murfee sleep with me and trained him to go outside...but I really am not one of the experts on here. Just an addict:D Patty and Murfee |
Find out what food she is feeding him. Feed him that so his tummy doesnt get upset...and if it isnt a good quality, slowly switch him over. Oh, Pee pads, toys, and food and water bowl! |
Welcome to YT! Make sure you take plenty of pics and post them on here. I would make sure to use the same food that the breeder is using, plenty of water, toys and love. |
Hi and welcome to YT! What part of Texas are you from? I'm in College Station and have on yorkie named Lacy :) |
Besides the usual, I have a clicker for Bobby :) It's REALLY helped out a lot with his Wee Wee pad training! This is the one I have - http://www.dog.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=311507 |

Get a comfy dog bed! Even if you let him sleep with you, he'll want a comfy place to call his own and to keep his favorite toys. Also find out from the breeder what kind of toys he likes and get one or two of those. I found out from mine that he loves squeeky toys, and I was SO glad that he had told me because it was great to have things here that made him feel positive about his new home! Some good treats that are special just for when he potties in the right place, and a clicker will also help the pottying along. You might also want to look around at your options for doggy school. Even if you have a well behaved yorkie, it really helps. Paddington (in my opinion) is SO good, yet I think the time spent with our trainer has been invaluable, and it has just made him all the better! -O |
ooooh, and don't forget poop bags and cleaner to clean up puppy messes!!! -O |
