Emmy's hair is wavy too. I think it's cute. Jackie |
I can't seem to get a file to upload of Adonis. Resized 2 different times and still didn't work. But he has really curly hair too! I now keep his body cut real short with the Whal clippers, cause he hates me to de-mat him. Was the only option I had left, was keeping him short, or him staying matted and looking a mess all the time. Adonis is also AKC registered. Tried letting his hair grow out again last year, and it was a disaster! And he didn't like sitting still to get that top knot dematted, much less his body. Gave up, and clipped him back short this past spring. Had I found yorkietalk when he was a puppy, I'd known to start him right off on the grooming. I did that with Venus, and she'll lay in your lap and let you comb her all night long. |
Hi your little guy is cute and yes he is likely a pb Yorkie. I have seen quite curly hair on Yorkies on occasion in the pet grooming I do. I have yet to fathom how come there is a curly gene floating around int he Yorkie somewhere but I wouldn't worry about it. |
My sister's mother n law has two yorkies and one of this has curly hair. She is the only one I have seen that way. |
I like to tease him and tell him that he isn't purebred just because he is a teapot AND has curly hair! He isn't too happy when I say that though! I've tried blow-drying but that just gives his hair a staticy look...so I've just kept it pretty short. His hair in the picture is the longest he has ever had it...and he's getting it cut soon (he's starting to mat). I'll have to try batheing him then putting on his pj's...normally I let him dry first then get him ready for bed. He's my unique little boy and I wouldn't trade him for anything! |
They generally get the curly hair if they have ever been shaved down. Sometimes it stays curly even when it grows out, but not all the time. |
Hi, I am new to this club as of today. My little Lizzie started out with strieght hair and slowly turned curly by 1 year. She is adorable. She is strieght on the face with waves on the leg. Some say she has the nice yorkie hair. Very soft, very managable. She loves to be groomed. I think if one looks at the history of the breed you can see where the curls come from. I think its a treat to have a curly little one. My Lizzie is 2 1/2 years old. She is 63/4 lbs. She is black and tan...not gold but light tan. Glad to be here, Lee |
Your curly-haired younguns are cute! And, since they are not used for breeding, their hair only needs to make you happy. IF, you really want to know if there were another "chicken in the coop" you can have them DNA tested thru at least 3 labs. The price has gone way down for the test and it is affordabe. AKC reg. unfortunately, only means that the breeder could either fill out a reg. form or do it on line, and that the parents are registered. Anyhow, your babies are cute and as lovable as if their hair were show ring silky. |

Padre has curly hair too! He's AKC certified, pure bred,etc...but his hair definitely has some wave to it. I absolutely love it though! When we blow him dry, he gets really poofy. The curly hair looks absolutely adorable with a puppy or teddy bear cut too....:D |
A Chi breeder in Australia had this response when her friend said that the Chi the friend had bought did not look like every other Chi she had seen. I love this response "It matters not a twit the looks, as long as you love your dog!" Doncha love that one? |
Curly haired Yorkies are adorable. :D |
I like the curly hair, very nice. Anything to be a little unique! :) |
Yup Teddy's is just like yours, when i just let it dry without combing it his body, and butt hair is curly, i actually think it's so cute, it just adds to his crazy personality. One time i used my bf's curl cleanser on him and he had the nicest curls, but it's weird cause the hair on his head and legs is straight, its just on his lower back and butt that it's curly. But if i blow dry it and comb it, it looks puffy. I wish i had a pic of it |
haha either way hes adorable!:D |
