dog TRICKS My daughter and I spent all evening teaching our yorkie to sit, and he caught on so quickly! I really want to try and attempt the "speak" trick, but I have yet to discover the appropriate method in doing so. I've been browsing online for video tutorials, and found some other neat ones... but to no avail, the speak technique. I know I would have to utilize my hand, sorta with the open/shut hand gesture. Would I myself also have to verbally "bark," in order for my yorkie to grasp what I am trying to teach him? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! |
No luck here either We, too, have been attempting the "speak" trick...no luck for us yet. Emmy has learned to sit, up (stand up on back paws), down (lay down flat on the floor), and crawl (lay down flat on floor and shuffle [crawl] along). Oscar has only mastered sit and up! My son has a dacshund (sp) and he taught her to speak. He would say "SPEAK" and then he would bark. She caught on quickly. I have been trying the same method--my two just look at me like I am crazy! You might try looking under the training section of YT...I have not searched for the SPEAK command. |
wow! my 7-year-old Female Mazie knows "how to sit, give paw, give other paw, give kissy, and roll over" Max can sit give paw and other paw and when he wants a treaty we say Max big boy bark and he will, it takes him a while to produce a bark, we thought he was a mute for the first 3 months we had him (first 6 months of his life) because he never barked, then we got Mazie and I guess he learned from her. Lucy, our new puppy, hasn't learned any tricks yet were going to start a puppy training class soon but for right now we are concentrating on the whole going potty outside thing and not to bite us when she's playing. |
