I also think that you should wait and see what happens, in the meantime try to keep them as quiet as possible ( if that is possible). Happy Birthday!!!! |
I really feel for you in your situation. Our limit is 2 also so even though I would love to get another, I haven't done it for fear I would get caught. Also, my neighbors on both sides don't like dogs. I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do. |
I didn't even know some places have a limit. I don't think we have a limit here..idk. And I hope we never do. I'm so sorry you're having to go thru this. I wish you all the best and hope you don't have to give any of them up! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Don't be sad |
Oh, I meant to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! |
Sorry for your dilemma :bigbdaypa |
I am dealing with/have dealt with the same thing recently. I got my 4th yorkie puppy and THEN found out that the law only allows 3. My next door neighbor's granddaughter mentioned to my little sister that the town limit is "3" and "what am I going to do with my dog"? What really freaked me out is that her father is a cop, although he doesn't live next door. I cried for a week, worried animal control would be showing up, then I called the city and they basically told me to license her to another family member - which I am doing soon - she's still under 6 months old... so I have until then. So, technically she will be my "dad's dog" who is just over a lot. It would be nearly impossible to prove and in the eyes of the law, it is his dog so what can they really do? Not much. I really KNOW how you are feeling. So many people are over the limits without even knowing it, and your neighbor seems like a real jerk in my opinion. What I would do is try to license the 3 you are over to other family members... talk to your neighbor... work on the barking, and keep thinking positive! It will all be okay... and if it comes right down to it, you could always go to court. There have been cases that have been won if it can be proven that the number of animals a city has decided on is an arbitrary number that has no value. Good luck to you <3 and big HUGS and Happy Birthday!! |
Dawn, I wish I were close enough to wrap my arms around you and give you a hug. I don't have any sage advice, but I do know that hugs help take away hurt. Good luck with the hard decisions you have to make. |
I'm so sorry this happened on your birthday. /comfort I really like some of the suggestions the others have offered. I hope you're able to work one of them in your favor. Have you tried getting a trainer for the barking? Maybe proof of trying to correct it will at least give you a bit more time with your neighbor and show them you're taking it seriously. Sounds like you can use all the time you can get to try and work this out. Ivy |
Happy Birthday! I'm so sorry you're having this dilemma! I hope you can work it out and I think Yorkiegirl83's suggestion to license some of the dogs to other family members...or friends is a great idea! Good luck and best wishes!!! |

If only they new my sweet babies... I am going to find someone to register my dogs to and see if that works!! Great suggestion...I am also going to contact the breeder who also works for the goverment and see if she has any ideas or knows a way around the system that will work in our area..she is an awesome person and we actually had a talk about this when I picked up Soleil...not even realizing it would really ever happen.. I certainly would fight to the bitter end in court...for sure!! As someone said earlier...some losers can own one dog and not give a crap about it while people like us can own 5 and spoil them rotten, treat them like children and love them entirely...but they only look at numbers...it doesnt make sense!! Thanks for the suggestions I will try anything at this point!! Dawn |

I went to register her under my dads name today and saw the rabies certificate has my name and address, then realized I had to change that info at the vets and have a new certificate printed out, ugh! So hopefully sometime next week, my little girl will be legal! |
Sounds like you know what your doing!! We are starting a strict schedule here today...dogs out at different times and only outside to do their business and then back in the house. No more dogs allowed in the front room where the picture window is located as to deter barking at people walking by the house..already it is much quieter...my dogs are not used to going out and then rushing right back in or having me watch them lol...I usually run around my house and get ready for work as they are doing their business (secure fenced in yard) but this morning I stood at the door..watched them do their thing and then hauled them right back in...step one lol...as long as I can have everyone else follow what I am doing when Im not home...we should pretty much eliminate unecessary barking problems...this weekend I am going to try some Cesar Milan tips about barking issues... Maybe soundproof a room? I think you can get stuff to put on the walls and ceiling to eliminate/absorb the sound. Just a though for while you are away at work. |
