Am I asking for trouble? I'm really considering get my 4 boys and 1 girl neutered & spayed all the same time. I was thinking since they'll all not feel well, maybe they'll leave each other alone. Whatca think, am I crazy for even thinking this? |
not for me I wouldnt do it that way but whats works for one may not work for another. Id be going crazy...... |
that's how i'd do it.. just get it all over with.. you'll only have to be up at night once.. (well maybe more than one night) and the others won't be jumping all over and around the sick one... they will all be tired and sleepy and they will all recover together... as overwhelming as it might be i think once you did one, you'd have wished you did the rest too!!! |
Sounds like a plan to me. That way you won't have one feeling good and bothering the ones that aren't. I hope you will be able to be at home with the kids so that you can cater to their every whim and need. Good luck!!! |
I would do it that way as well. I don't think the boys are quite as down and out as the girls can be though. Good luck with whatever you decide. |
ouch! wow, I cannot imagine 5 at once....Bella did not allow me to sit her down, if i did she screamed and cried and tried running after me!! I sat for over 6 hours holding her until she let me even set her down for a second! I even had to go the bathroom holding her in one arm (not a pretty site) I cannot imagine having 4 others wanting to be held too:eek: Good luck with your decision.... |
Well, with having 5, no 1 gets all the attention, so maybe I won't have that problem. Yes, I'll definitly have to plan to be off work a couple days (Thurs & Fri) and have the week-end for all to re-coup. Of course this also means I'll have to come up with how many $$  Hubby's gonna freak! |
Mommy is a mess.... lol yes, I have to admit Bella was an only baby at the time and I sat and cried and cried....I called my mom sobbing telling her how much I regret doing it, and if I had know it was gonna be this bad I NEVER would have did it, then when she got tired of listening to me cry I called my sister...she actually got a lil upset too, she is extremely close to Bella....then after being alone for 6 hours with her never putting her down hubby came home then I REALLY cried when I seen him....and honestly...it was not bad at all...I am an emotional basket case when it comes to my fur babies...Bella also had like 10-12 teeth pulled at the same time and she actually ate that night. She was back to her regular happy self by the next morning...I think the mom's to worse than the babies! At least I did. My only experiance is with a girl and they have commented boys dont have as hard of a time so if you have 4 boys and just one girl...maybe it wont be that bad. Either way Good Luck! |
I would probably do them all at once too. You wouldn't have to take so many days off of work that way. |
Only you know how much you can handle at one time! That said, I think 5 dogs with incisions and pain meds might be quite a bit to handle. If you think of it from the pups' points of view -- each one will have gone through a traumatic experience, physically, and will need/want extra attention and comfort from mom. I know that when my boy was neutered, I took a couple days off from work to watch him, cuddle him, make sure his incision was OK and monitor him for pain. I had all I could handle with the one! But, again, only you know your doggies best. Good luck, whatever you decide. |
I didd my two at once but i cant imagine doing 5. It might be kinda good with them all having the same down time. |
I can't imagine. One at a time was bad enough for me. Can I ask... why so many that need to be fixed? |
I fixed Bella cuz she is to tiny to ever breed plus I am too chicken to dio it even if she had gotten big. She is 4 lbs. 12 ounces.....and VERY tiny framed she should be about 3.5-4 But shes my Tiny Teapot! |
I would have them all at the same time. Milli was spayed a little over a week ago, and it was really hard trying to keep her calm and quiet with Emma here wondering why she didn't feel good, and wanting to play with her. The worst part was that SHE wanted to play with Emma, but every time she tried we had to crate her :( It would be much easier IMO to have them all under the weather at the same time. Plus, then you only have 1 pot of chicken and rice to make for their tummies, you can do all their onesie laundry at the same time, and you can go around the "circle" with your tube of neosporin and bowl of ice cubes :p |
Well, I asked my vet about it yesterday. He\'s in the office by himself and said he couldn\'t do all 5 the same day. So, guess I\'ll do 2 & 3. |
