Any suggestions for toy storage? Hey all- We had Mojito's toys in a woven basket for about a month. He would occasionally go after the basket instead of the toys but would stop gnawing when I told him to. About two weeks ago he started really chewing on the basket and wouldn't stop. The basket is now sitting on top of the fridge and I have toys scattered everywhere. Do you guys have any suggestions for good toy storage that he won't chew through? (I'm also hoping it'll be low enough so that he can get to his toys himself -- one of the first things he learned was to get a toy when I told him to and I don't want him to forget how to do it!) Thanks!! Mojito & Irmi |
I like plastic rubbermaid containers. |
We have several of the oval shaped, soft sided fleece beds that you can buy just about anywhere. They're the kind that have the rolled edge that's only a couple inches tall...I use them in the house, his crate, the car and for his toys...they work great. |
hahahahah I read the title and then looked around my apartment and I was thinking "yea my apartment is a big toybox" ;) I have 2 of the bone shaped toy boxes from wal-mart but they are sideways so they can crawl in. I also have a few rubber baskets that have toys in them. |
Cooper and Carter have been chewing on a wicker-type basket that holds my telephone books. It must be in a yorkie's nature to chew wicker. I will come unglued if they decide to start chewing on my expensive wicker set in my sunroom! Bitter apple has done nothing to disuade their chewing on that basket. I have a cover over the wicker basket that holds their toys . . . I don't think they realize something is under the cover. A shallow rubbermaid container would be my suggestion just as Chachi's mom posted above. Lisa |
They have a cute bone shpaed toy box on the dr. Fosters and smith website. |
My husband and I really want one of these for Sully: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...02072%3A202086 We're hoping that we can get one after we move...but not before, just so save ourselves the hassle and u-haul space. Isn't it cute though? |
Mine did the exact same thing with the beautiful woven basket that now has each corner chewed off it... mine is sitting on the window sill and I too have toys from one end of the house to the other!!! Sorry I can't help with this one, but wanted you to know that you are not alone! :D |

I actually got that toybox as one of the gifts I gave for a gift exchange! Now I wish I would've gotten one for myself! It was only 9.99 when I got it at the Walmart in Asheville around the holidays! |
1 Attachment(s) We bought Maggie a multi-colored nylon mesh sided toy bin at Walmart. We found it in the pet dept. It can be collapsed when not needed. When you open it, it will pop open to form a cube. She loves it. She drags all of her toys out of it, and then gets inside and does the cube walk. So funny. At night, we gather up her toys and plop them all back in for another day. Below is a picture of it. That picture was taken a couple months ago. We have it on it's side so she could get her toys out. Now, she is bigger and she just drags her stuff out of it. |
Maggie looks sooooooo cute in her mesh toy bin! That's perfect for her toys, I should have thought of that too! Neato! We use one of those for our laundry, but when it's empty my cat loooves to play in it too, lol. |

My brother made us a toy chest out of 6 pieces of wood. It's a big giant box with a top and latch. We spray painted it black and it says FRED on it! He can't reach in so he'll just sit in front of it and bark until someone comes and opens it for him and throws him in there. lol |
5 Attachment(s) We just use an old laundry basket!!! Which is easy for him to knock it over so he can get any of his toys very easily!!!! But- he also likes to sleep in his toy basket too!!! Here are some funny pics!!! |
