Where do I get in line? For the teapot club.... I took Paddington to the vet yesterday, and guess how much he weighed. 6.1lbs  He is four months old, and he had been estimated to only be about 5.5 lbs full grown. I was so shocked when they told me how much he weighed because he still looks so tiny to me! The vet gave me three doses of revolution for dogs weighing between 5-10 lbs, and he said "He will probably be bigger than this weight range by the time you need to give him the third one, so just bring it back and we'll get you the right one." MORE than 10 lbs???? He's the perfect size now, though! oh well, maybe it just means that he'll grow into his humongous ears and feet! I'm a bit disappointed because I wanted a smallish dog (five-six lbs sounded perfect), but I'll love my tank, even if he's 15 or 20 pounds! -O |
Wow! I'm shocked as well. He looks so tiny in your avatar! Weight is so unpredictable. It isn't definite he will pass the 10lb mark. I think he is so cute! He'll be just as adorable at any weight. I love his ears! |
I love his picture, he's a cutie, and like you said you love him no matter what his size. I've read this same concern on here many times before. Some Yt members purchased puppies and "PAID" a lot of money for a small puppy who grew to be larger than the breeder said. It can cause a slight dissapointment especially when you shell out the cash assuming your pup will stay a certain size or weight. They are a loveable breed no matter what size they get. lol |
Sometimes they have a really big growth spurt and don't grow nearly as fast after that so maybe there is a chance he won't get above 10lbs...but I guess you'll just have to wait and see. How old was he in your avatar pic? I don't think I've seen any other pictures of him. I like his denim jacket :-) |
well FIRST he is adorable! but i can understand your sense of disappointment... if you were planning on one thing and got another... but i know, as well as you do, that you'll love him no matter how big he is.. just more to love :) and i hear the Teapot club has wonderful members :) can we see more pictures of your little-big guy :) |
Go Teapots! Otis is skinny but he's long legged, he doesn't look like he weighs 9 pounds. The place where I got my shih poo said he'd be about 7 pounds and he's 13 pounds!!!! Sorry he's a little bigger than you thought he was going to be. We love our teapots!!! More to love and more to snuggle. |
4 Attachment(s) I've posted pictures of him before, but only in the picture section. My avatar picture is a month old, so he was three months in it. Here are a few others. 1. a week ago 2. Paddington and my 8 mo nephew getting into trouble- this one shows a bit better how big he's getting! This was also about a month ago 3. A little more than a month ago 4. When I first got him. I can't believe how much he's grown! Most of his toys were bigger than him! |

Bella's 8 pounds, probably more now. I had hoped she was going to stay smaller but I too, love her regardless. |
He is adorable! I have one that was supposed to be 4 pounds and weighs 10 fully grown. I love her to death and would not change her for anything. Like everyone says the more to love. |
Awwww ... he is darling! What a sweet face. Welcome to the club. I now refer to Ozzie as a teahouse. I don't know of any pots my 14-pound-boy would fit in! We were watching Animal Planet last night and this thing on wombats and I had to laugh because it reminded me of Ozzie. I was calling him "my Yorkie with the wombat physique" after that. :D |
TANK!!! haha HAHAHA TANK! That is too funny!!! I know you'll love him no matter what his size... I have 2 boys ... one is a teapot (9lbs) and one is 5lbs... I feel WAAAYYY more secure with my 9lber! He is more study & solid! My little guy just feels soooo tiny and fragile... Im always afraid he'll get hurt or something! I love your puppys name too! reminds me of the bear.. that childhood story! Did you name him after that? |
2 Attachment(s) Paddington is too cute--even in those pictures he does not look big to me. My Emmy weighs 6 pounds and has been that size a while (she was a year in February). Since we got little Oscar, June 8--he has gone from 3.5 to 4 lbs. His legs are much shorter than Emmy's, but he seems to be built a lot stockier. He may join the teapot club! My daughter's 2 yorkies weigh in at 9 and 7 pounds. We thought Benson was going to be a tiny little thing, too, and he is the 9 pounder! She stills thinks of him as her "baby"--he was her first puppy! He is 3 years old. These are pictures of him as a baby and now. (We were worried, too, that he might never grow into his ears--but he did!) pic 1--baby Benson pic 2--Benson--3 years |
LOL, welcome to the teapot club. My two are 11.5 and 13.5 lbs! You know, while they are much bigger than some of their tiny yorkie friends, they are still small dogs. Enjoy! |
Sing-along! "He's a little TeaPot cute and stout........ adoring eyes and a wet lil' snout..." Your little guy is adorable!!!!! |
