Good Morning... I have a question.... Good Morning YT'ers! I have a question that you may be able to help me on. My Yorkies have full-coats and they get bathes once a week, and between the regular bathing I usually give them a "butt bath". Shelby ( the girl ) is especially bad about getting very "sticky & dirty" on her backside due to her squatting when she pees. I have used many different brands of Petwipes but am looking for one that really works well ( cleaning and deodorizing) for between the bathes. The ones that I use now work pretty good, but thought that someone out there knows of something that works for them and might be better. I really don't want to add another butt bath to our schedule (she don't have any skin probs and I want to keep it that way, and too much bathing could dry her out! :eek: ) Suggestions??? |

The only thing I've ever used along this line (generally during my females' heat) was a wet rag or occasionally a human baby wipe. |
I use the Baby Wipes for sensitive skin for Hallie. They have never bothered her skin and work really well~ |
i use extra gentle face,ear,body, eye petwipes daily for nathan from petsmart to just freshen him up between baths and the groomer and they seem to work fine and he smells good afterwards! |
Warm wet washcloth with one drop shampoo I buy baby washcloths (from the Dollar Tree). I wet the washcloths until they are drippy wet, add one drop (that's right ONE drop) of MinkSheen (their regular shampoo -- SMELLS FANTASTIC) add more warm water and squish it around, wring out most of the water and wipe away. The soiled wash cloth is put over a towel rack to dry and is then thrown in the laundry basket with the towels. Funny how it can take a lot of words to describe what it takes about 5 seconds to do....:D |
Hi, We have found that it is best to shave around the rectal opening, and keep clean with a warm soft washcloth. This was recommended by our vet and has worked very well for out babies. |
Since I home cook for mine, I've never had the first problem with pee stains or poop on the hair. I do keep the anal area cut a little short for hygiene purposes. I buy doggie wipes to clean their facial hair after they eat and take on outings and trips. I think most would be fine. I've also seen people use baby wipes for sensitive skin. |
I use the newborn or sensitive skin kind of the baby wipes. They smell good, and work well between baths. You have to get the name brand though-the store brand ones aren't as thick or as wet in the box. |

If you have wipes that have dried out in the box, just add some distilled water to them. Not too much, Just enough to get them moist again. |

Hmmmmmm.... will have to try the warm washcloth and tad of shampoo. It is never a "poo" issue, just when she squats to pee it gets on her long hair. I don't think that trimming the long hair on her backside and back legs would be very attractive. Thanks for the info AND to Diggy4 for giving me the bump!:eek: :D |
