Ckc? Akc? Hi my fellow YT lovers! My baby Chloe is CKC registered. But I just wonder the difference b/w AKC and CKC? I know one is American Kennel Club and the other one is Continental Kennel Club. What are the requirement for AKC?? Can she be registered for both clubs? Or is it necessary? I don't intend to breed her, actually I just had her spayed right after I got her.... |
CKC is pretty much a registry generally used by unreputable breeders. There aren't really any guidelines or restrictions like there are for AKC. Sometimes the dogs registered there aren't even purebred, which indicates that CKC dogs probably aren't of breeding quality. Only dogs with two AKC parents can be registered AKC. But if your yorkie is just a pet, it doesn't matter. It doesn't make her any less of a lovely companion! :D |

There are two CKCs - the Continental Kennel Club and the Canadian Kennel Club. The Canadian Kennel Club is basically the Canadian equivalent to AKC with similar standards so it is possible for a CanKC dog to become AKC regsitered. However the ContKC isn't really a reputable registry and is one that will basically register any dog for a registration fee. They register mixed breeds, purebreds, and all. There are so many registries out there but there are only a few reputable ones such as AKC, UKC, CanKC, etc. AKC won't register any dogs that don't have AKC parents. |
