Yorkie temper tantrum I think I just saw my first Yorkie temper tantrum. We were eating tacos for dinner and Gizmo kept whining and barking. I do NOT give him people food and don't feed him from the table, but I think my son might have at one time. I kept telling Gizmo "no", but he wouldn't listen. After a couple of minutes of this, I pulled out THE CAN! . I shook it loudly and said "no" in a firm voice again. He then ran behind a chair close by, peeked around, gave a soft little growl and did a flip kind of thing. He gave us a "I'm not happy with you" look and then went to his food bowl (which I had filled with fresh, good food for him before dinner) and started eating his dinner. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen. These little guys have tempers! LOL (And this mama gave everyone in the house a refresher course on feeding/ not feeding Gizmo.) |
BUT MOM!!!! Isn't it funny....all it takes is once and they know the dinner table means food! Yet somehow they can't figure out the pee pad means pee! |
I HAVE to get Susanah on video throwing one of her tantrums. If I tell her "no", she tries again. After about the 3rd or 4th "no!" she gets mad and will whine and bark and stomp her two front feet! It is hilarious! |
LOL...but you got that one nipped in the bud! Good work! Lately, we've been teaching Chloe "go to bed" when it's dinner time. We point to her bed and say "go to bed". You start by luring them with a treat, and doing it over and over again. Then you do it without the treat and treat after they sit in the bed. Then you wait until they stay. After a while, you don't need to use a treat--you just say "go to bed" and they'll go and stay. |
Murfee doesn't throw tantrums but he is the champion pouter:D |
Yeppers, that WAS a Yorkie Temper Tantrum. I would love to see a video of that one! |
When mine doesn't get his way, he does what I call "sassing." He will look me in the eye challengingly and then growl and even bark -- but it's always in a playful way. He usually does this when I try to break him up of his "under the furniture" fetish. He's convinced there's something he wants under every piece of furniture that has a space between it and the floor. He tries to dig under the couch, the buffet, the china cabinet and the stove. When I tell him to stop, he smart-mouths me! He'll also sulk sometimes when I scold him, giving me this pitiful look and laying down with his head on his hands. |

HAHA that is so funny! Simon is the King of temper tantrums so I know exactly what you are talking about :) |
dont ya just love those tantrums. lol i dont feed mine table food but yet when we eat he keeps trying to jump up and then he starts barking... we ignore him and finally he realizes he cant have any and he goes plays with his toys.. he also gets on the couch with me and starts digging in the open space and when i say no he goes to the other ends and sulks gives me this look .. their soooo precious |
Oh, yeah. Our temper tantrums used to consist of kicking her back legs out. Now she scratches my couch, which she KNOWS I hate. My couch is a microfiber kind of material (feels like suede, but it's not)....so I'm scared to death she's going to scratch it. |
i know what you mean mine is the microfiber material too. and cody gets in those spaces and starts digging like there is something there and theres not. and i stop him cause im afraid the couch will get all scratched up |
its got to be in their blood!!!!:D Mine does the same thing I will tell him no..he will growl at me and then sit down on his hind legs and bark at me like as if to say..how dare you tell me no!!! :0 lol it is too funny!!!! I don't feed mine people food either but he will try to get up in my lap and when i tell him no..he will try to nip at my feet til i put him in time out!!!!! Then its the whining til he gets out and then he will play with his toys!!!! |
Slade will throw tantrums. If he still doesn't get his way he'll do zoomies as fast as he can and bark  Not sure why he does that but its funny to watch. |
