I've been saying that I don't want people (*ahem* out-laws) holding Chloe because of her spay incision "not being fully healed." It's a lie. It's been over 3 weeks since her spay. I'm going to ride it out as long as I can...I'm just wondering when someone will catch on lol I really don't like anyone holding her. They can pet her all they want, but someone else holding her makes me VERY uncomfortable. When other people ask & I tell them it makes me uncomfortable they don't persist, but the in-laws do! They'll ask for hours straight just because they know I hate it. Well, mostly it's the future mother-in-law, but future father-in-law does it, too. Ugh. |
I wouldn't hesitate to tell them she's too fragile, she's a tiny little baby and I don't want you to pick her up. My neice and nephew definately know the rules when they come to my house. I'll take a few hurt feelings over an accidental injury to my baby. Tell them you love her, she was expensive, she wiggles a lot, she's your baby and you don't want to take any chances. |
grrrrrrrrr, hate when people are like that ... I had that problem with my niece also .... I had to just say NO ... she was trying to sit Freeway in a baby high chair .... |
I would just explain how fragile the puppies are, and you don't want them to get hurt. Also, maybe explain that if the puppy gets hurt, they might snap at the kids and I'm sure that will get their attention. If these kids are rough though, don't give in and let them hold the puppies. |
I just say no. If the kids or their parents continue to insist, I have the right to be rude. Most of the kids I encounter are sweet though, and I have no problem with them sitting on the ground and holding him in their laps. |
I would hide her in another room and explain that she has worms, fleas, some skin fungus, ear mites, and everyones favorite runny poop!!! ;) :p |

I would just be blunt and tell them that he's small and fragile and you don't let anyone hold him. I wouldn't worry about hurting anyone's feelings. You're protecting your puppy! I would feel worse if I gave in and let those monsters play with him and something happened. Rather be safe than sorry! |
Wow, They sound like my brothers kids. Be blunt. Far too many people now days side skirt the issue and the truth. Personally, I would say, "No, your kids can't handle your own animals gently, I know they wouldn't be able to be as gentle as my puppy needs them to be. Sorry." |
