Is there anything wrong with this puppy 3 Attachment(s) I'm supposed to go and pick up my first yorkie puppy today! YAY.... The breeder says she's fine, but i just want to make sure because it's a long trip. Can you look at these pictures and tell me if you think there's anything wrong with her. i've seen her brothers and sister and they were all fluffier with silkier hair. |
Please Help bump this please |
She is absolutely adorable to me but you can't tell anything about her health by simply looking at a few pictures. Since it's a few hours away, I think you should contact a vet near the breeder and see if you can bring the puppy in for a thorough exam before you officially take her from the breeder. The breeder could accompany you to the impartial vet and if everything goes as planned, your puppy can go home with you; if not, the breeder can take her home. I dunno, just a thought. |
She's a cutie, the 2nd picture really shows a good profile of her and her hair. All yorkies coats are different, you should read up on the yorkie breed while you are online. The coats are also described in several yorkie books at the Pet stores. |
Does your puppy come with a health guarantee? Some pups have silky coats some have cottony coats. It's hard to tell she's so tiny still. She looks adorable. Good luck with her. Post more pictures if you do get her. |
so her fur isn't too thin? I think she's adorable too :) I've been searching all over the net about this because I want to make sure that her coat will grow long when she matures since it's so short now :) |
I'm no expert and it's hard to say...is it her health you are concerned about, or is having a Yorkie with a beautiful coat important to you too? How old is she? I would say it doesn't look like she has a very thick coat. Maybe a breeder can say what they think or you could post in the breeder section and ask there. I liked JRo's idea to take her to an impartial Vet for a health check. |
thanks... she does have a health gurantee and I asked about the fur because i know that thinning hair can sometimes be an indication of health problems in humans and other animals and because I'm not COmpletely familiar with yorkies I didn't know if her coat texture and length was normal... |

Are these purebred yorkies you're looking at ?? She could be mixed (maybe with Chi) ?? Do they have the parents on site ? Do her siblings look like her ? It's really hard predicting a yorkies coat but from the look of her - I'd say she IS a yorkie - but also possibly a yorkie mix |
she is pure bred AKC reg and parents are on site... she was the smallest of the puppies, the others were a bit stockier |
I'm sure she's a really sweet puppy. However, if it were me - I'd wait and get a puppy that is completely what I wanted and it sounds as if you want a Yorkie that is going to have a beautiful coat. I searched for months until I found my puppy. The thing is, you'll fall in love with your puppy no matter what, so why not be sure you're happy with it first. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me about this, but I just feel some hesitation on your part. |

I AGREE with you - :) jsmn266 - if you're having questions why not wait till you are VERY sure - she's cute don't get me wrong - but this is a big decision and you need to be very sure before you take her home - I wouldn't be concentrating on SIZE Only - too may people do that and are dissapointed when they're baby gets bigger than they expected - look at the Temperment - Ear set - body style - and overall GOOD Feeling you'll get when you know you found the puppy you want |
I think she's beautiful ! I just dont want to unknowingly adopt a puppy who is ill, that would be devastating. I've wanted a yorkie for about 3 years now and it's been really hard to find quality puppies in Michigan. I want to keep her for a long time and because she's so far away i wanted to ask some ppl with experience before I made the trip. |
Nothing wrong The only thing I see wrong is she is so stinkin cute it should be a crime!!! Bella had hair a lot like that she is now a cotton silky mix. Her sisters which are in my immediate family both have totally different coats. I have heard puppies take after the grandparents more than the parents. She is adorable! I have picks of Bella with the coarser hair, then a now pick....if you wanna see them let me know! |

If you saw the parents that would be a fairly good indication of what the puppy may look like as an adult. I agree that the first thing to worry about is the health. You can thicken the coat up alot of times with proper nutrition and somethimes when you shave them down and get the puppy fur off the second coat will come in thicker and nicer. |

I think her hair looks a little dry but you can't tell unless you touch her. The best advice On here is to take her to a vet in the same town she lives in. Lou P.S. She is adorable! |
I think she is adorable. If there is a health guarantee, take her to the vet immediately to get looked over. As far as her coat goes, I think with the right nutrition and proper care, she will have beautiful hair. It may not be super thick like some but I have seen many yorkies that do not have super thick hair and I think it is just beautiful. it lays so pretty. If you get a good feeling from talking to the breeder and you are willing to make the drive, then I don't see any harm in going to check her out. Let us know what you decide!!!! Do you have a name picked out? |
What a cutie pie!! I say the same thing...just take her to the vet asap...Im sure if she is coming from a breeder she should be in perfect health before she leaves with you...but she should be checked anyhow...good luck with your trip to get her and make sure you post tons of pictures!! Dawn |
