Reverse House Training Help Okay, I have a problem that many people have probably not dealt with before. Was hoping someone here could help. My grandmother has been having a beautiful yorkie companion for many years in her apartment. She always took her for a walk to poo and pee outside. However, her health is deteriorating and she can no longer take her out 3 times a day. She doesn't want to give the dog away and can't afford a dog walker. She's trying to get the dog to do its business inside on newspaper but the poor thing will hold it for a whole day until my grandmother gives in and takes her out. Is there any advice I could give her, I can't think of anything? I feel so bad, the yorkie is my grandmothers only companion and she doesn't want to see it suffer. Should she just wait it out? We tried putting some of her pee on the newspaper but she still won't go on it. |
You might try pee pads with a spray attractant, and put some of the dog's pee on there as well. I think it is Simple Solution that makes house training pads that are scented to attract the dog to use them. The other option is I have seen on the internet an indoor dog potty made of fake grass. The name escapes me. But perhaps something like that might work? You might also contact a trainer and see if they have any suggestions. |
If there is an area outside where the baby usually goes potty, how about putting a pee pad out there to use? Then when it gets used to it outside, slowly transition to using it inside? Kinda reverse the process for training them to go outside? When it is time to pee, put on the leash as normal, walk the baby to the pee pad? Just thinking, don't know if it would work or not. . . |
