At What Age Can You Tell What Type Of Coat They Will Have? I was just wondering when I will be able to get an idea of what texture Livi's coat will be. She is 15 weeks and up until just the past couple of days, her coat was a normal puppy coat...full, fluffy, nontangled. Now, just on the last day or two, her coat is now fuzzy and tangled above her hind legs and tail. I was combing her today and noticed that the matted parts are actually underneath the fur on top, making it hard to even know she had this going on. I am not sure what I am going to do because it is matted pretty badly. I comb/brush her everyday because I wanted her to get used to it but this was not ever there until recently or I just didn't notice the mats because they are under other fur...what should I do? And is this something that will change as she gets older...or is this a sign that she is not going to have a silky coat?? :( !! Thanks~ Tammy |
1 Attachment(s) Kodak is 3 years old now and his coat grew out once when he was 1yr old. He got tangled in a shrub that had sticker bug like balls that stuck to him. We had to get him cut down to remove the matts that the sticker bugs caused. His coat has not grown back since then. I'm glad I got a picture with his coat on his regristration paper photo. His coat is now short and wavy. I was then told that the groomer cut against the grain of his coat and he wasn't groomed right. By him being cut so short, his hair will not grow out right. I love the way his coat is now, but I would like to be able to grow out his coat. He is the bigger pup on the right in the photo. My girls hair grows out straight and silky. |
