Bobby hates my boyfriend! What to do? For some odd reason, Bobby has the tendency to growl & bark at my boyfriend, Mark. He's teething so I figured it was just that but it's gotten a bit out of control. Mark will let him lie on top of him & he will growl and attempt to bite his neck and face. With me, he'll try to bite my fingers and whatnot but he doesn't really get too aggressive unless I'm trying to clean his ears. Any suggestions? |
My first thought, was "get a new boyfriend!" But seriously, I am guessing Bobby is young? Like any child, he is pushing the limits to see what he can get. Just let him know that the behavior is not acceptable. My dog plays rougher with me, because I allow it, and less rough with my husband. Just establish the limits. If he is biting, get him a chew toy. Play tug-a-war.. Good luck! Time and patience are key. |
Hahaha! Yeah, I figured Mark just needs to do what you say & set his limits. Gosh, it's just that he's so damn cute! :) Thanks :) |
Have Mark play with him and give him treats. Bobby will learn to love him!:D |

Let Mark be "the keeper of all good things". Mark should feed him, give him treats, give him new toys, play with him, take him out, etc. Whatever Bobby finds rewarding, Mark should be in control of. By the same token, Mark should NOT be the one to do things that Bobby finds aversive. A big one would probably be coming in between Bobby and you or taking Bobby away from you. I feel pretty confident that you can turn this around. |
My Alyssa is doing the same thing as Bobby. She loves her daddy and loves spending time with him. She loves me and wants to constantly protect me. She likes for it to be mommy and Alyssa or daddy and Alyssa. The problem comes when it is mommy and daddy. She can't handle it. Once as my husband was leaving for work he kissed me goodbye. Alyssa was barking hysterically and actually bit him on the cheek as he leaned over to kiss me. She does not let mommy and daddy sit on the same sofa. She has to be between us. This may be what is going on with Bobby. He feels bonded and very protective of you and does not want your boyfriend close to you. Good luck solving your problem. |
