shampoo There has been some discussion about shampoos. Bichons are notorious for sensitive skin. It's pink and easily irritated. Shampoo that works for them should work well for Yorkies, too. I make shampoo called Bichon Bubbles and take it to my groomer to use on Lacy and Cosmo. It's easy to make and very gentle. The recipe is: 22 ounces Ivory Liquid dish detergent (or Dove) 2 ounces gylcerine (available at drug store) 2 cups plain white vinegar Put in a gallon container and fill with water I usually only make 1/2 of this for 1/2 gallon instead of a gallon. I would imagine a lot of you have heard of this shampoo and maybe even use it. You can mix 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar with 3/4 cup warm water and work it into the dog's coat to kill fleas. Don't rinse it out, just let it dry. You might add a leave-on conditioner to this to keep from making the coat hard to comb out. Vinegar is very soothing and I always put some in the rinse water when I bathe the dogs. I use a sprayer, so usually just pour a cup or so of vinegar over the dog's back, work it in, and rinse. Vinegar is great for a lot of things, including removing odors when accidents happen on the carpet. |
Thanks for the info. I use vinegar in my washing machine when I wash towels to remove the extra soap, don't know why I didn't think about using it on my doggie. When you use it on the carpet do you just spritz some on and let it sit for a while? Does it remove the odor? |
Thanks for the shampoo recipe, sounds great..... I'll try the flea recipe also ... |
