New to forums/New Yorkie Owner I've just adopted a standard Yorkshire Terrier over the weekend that was homeless, have been reading up on the breed. A female, who apparently has had pups before. She's very good natured and a wonderfull addition to our family however, because we have no idea what her name is, can't get her to respond to us at all. Anyone have any tips on how to get a slightly older dog to take to a new name? It seems she has a very small attention span, hard to get her attention, one track mind. Any tips to get her to pay a little more attention? Also, any tips to get her to warm up to our other dogs would greatly be appreciated as well. Thanks Karie |
Welcome and congrats on the new addition to your family. With the name thing, I would use treats...when you have a treat call her name to come to you and show her the treat. I changed my Carley's name when she was six months old, and it didn't take her long to respond to the new name. Good luck...and post some pics....we wanna see her!!!!:welcome4: |
Yes, welcome! Sorry, no tips here at all. Just wanted to say :welcome4: and thanks for taking in a yorkie who needed a good home. :) |
