I keep catching my yorkie chewing bark. Does your yorkie chew bark? My Yorkie has lots of chew toys but every time I let him into the garden he steals loose bark I have surrounding my plants. I know it wouldnt be good digesting, does anyone know of any further issues with him digesting some? |
Yes they chew it like crazy and drag it in the house too. That is why it is getting scooped up and rock is getting put down. |
edgar will eat pine tree branches. i think it's b/c it has a cool taste and they can make it crumble. i would check the bag to see if it is chemically treated--if not it shouldn't hurt him occassionally. but it might be a big mess on the carpet!! i think it would say keep kids away on the bag or something. and after a few rains maybe it's "clean?" |
My dogs eat it all the time. Today Bentley vomited a huge glob of wood and leaves. It was about the size of what his stomach would be and it was all clumped together like a hairball. I noticed he had not been eating much for the past couple days and I guess that is why. It is no telling how long that had been there, I am glad he vomited it up and I will try to watch them closer so they don't eat that anymore. He even eats my baseboards in my house. |
i am new to this board. and although i am not a yorkie owner, i have a twin sister who just got her first yorkie a couple of weeks ago. and we have noticed that when we take him outside to do his business, the first thing he does is look for sticks. he will find one and lay down and chew on it...and he eats the grass...the vet said that was okay...but just seems odd to me. i too would like to know what the appeal of wood is to these little ones. |
Yorkies chewing bark I have four yorkies and they all love to chew bark. I also have a Papillon and chi/pom mix that don't touch the stuff. Must be a Yorkie thing?? |
I have to really watch Jake outside because he will pick up little sticks or anything else he can find. He tried to eat a rock one time. |
Thanks for all your replies. I guess its ok in moderation, and at least I know my yorkie isnt alone out there eating his bark and sticks! ha, I think tho as you say it is flakey and they can feel like they are making progress chiping away with it! |
