 Good choice! It will be a much better experience for both of you. I'm not gonna lie though. It's pure torture waiting! YT is keeping me sane in the meantime. I'm learning so much that I'm dreaming about yorkies nightly. |
Good choice, you need to be confident that you'll be able to care for your new baby...I think size does have a lot to do with it, not just age. They learn so much from their mommy during the early months...and the breeder would know when it is time. You just have to wait a little bit longer, and I know it's hard to wait...but you'll be happy in the end. |
I agree with all those that say it has to be a puppy by discission. I go a lot by weight but also eating habits, activity level, and social skills. If a puppy shakes it is too young to leave the breeder and Mom. I have sent some puppies home as early as 8 1/2 weeks, but on the other hand, have kept a puupy 17 weeks, it all depends on the puupy. You did the right thing leaving the puppy with the breeder for a few more weeks. Congratulations on your puppy and welcome to YT. |
Thanks for all the kind replies. I have been on puppy overload the past few nights since I posted. I guess I need to give myself a little break. I have been searching for everything possible on this forum that you all may have talked about when I wasn't yet a member. My searches don't stop in my sleep LOL. I continue to think about grooming, flea & tick products, how I want to go about training, what vet I want to use. I woke up this morning feeling more tired than I did when I went to bed LOL. So many thoughts. My breeder has their own business so next week they are going to start bringing my little girl with them to get her used to being by herself. They asked if I minded coming by after work and being with her. I think they are just the sweetest breeders I have met. I was going to suggest that but I didnt want to sound like overkill, so that made me feel good. I usually go to the gym 3 times a week but I am going to put that on hold for my little one so we can have plenty of bonding time. I dont want her to be alone more than she has to. |
I got Teddy and London both at 10 weeks old. London was incredibly tiny but she still did fine, I made sure to give her Nutrical and that she ate. I also took them both to the vet asap. If I get another pup I would wait until it's 12 weeks atleast though. |
Charlie my first baby was only 7weeks, not by my choice:( he was a rescue, my karleigh was 9 weeks and joey 16 weeks , molly 12 weeks, i had no problems with any of them, but i would deff wait untill 12 weeks or more, congrats on your new baby, you must be so excited:D |
