Excessive Salivating @ the mouth? Quick question... Gizmo was playing with a girl puppy and inside the house and he started to foam at the mouth... well not so much foam but slobber alot ... is there a reason why? He is almost 2 yrs old and the puppy was 10 weeks old? |
I was about to ask the same question! My SweetPea went to her first meet-up the other week. There were about seven yorkies there. Five minutes in the small dog park area, and she starts to foam (not just slobering, but FOAMING) in the mouth  . So I immediately brought her to the dog water fountain to clean her mouth and give her water. It was hot, so I thought that perhaps it was the heat. But I got so worried, so I left after 15 minutes. She was okay when we got to the house, and has not occured again since. So myy conclusion was: My SweetPea decided to be drama queen that day :p , being that this was her first time to socialize with other yorkies! |
lol,.. how cute.. however Gizmo is doing this inside? And the temp is about 73or .. nice and cool for south texas... so I dont think it was the heat.... |
Maybe he had the hots for the girl that she made him drool? :p Srry I'm no help but I couldn't help it |
Bubba slobbers when he gets excited or when he gets anxcious. |
hmmm well I thought that too.. but he didnt look excited or anxious.. he looked afraid of her.....i don't know.... |
my kayko does the same thing when hes around a female dog its really gross and we have to wipe his mouth i notice he doesnt pant around them so it just piles up in his mouth and pours out |

he does it with ANY female no matter of age i dont know how to stop it i wish i knew kaykos 3 now he started it around 2 i think it will stop once he gets really use to her he doesnt do it as much with one friends female now cause hes met her a couple times im guess give it time he'll stop once he gets comfy with her |
I hope so...... hubby slept on the couch last night because he was worried about the excessive salivating and he didnt want to get Gizmo sick... the funny thing is he does this only when we are around.... |
this is normal when a yorkie is stressed, if he is tiny keep any eye on him, give him a bit of "calm down" or "nutrical" if it happens again. If their not accustom to being around other dogs or traveling in the car...anxious feelings will bring it on...what hes not familar with is stressing him, it will stop. Quote:

This happens when dogs are stressed...Anytime Miko is in a stressful situation he gets like this. When we would get in the car when he was little, he always salivated excessively. He also does it when he's feeling sick and before he has a seizure. |

Jaxon also use to do this in the car...hasn't done it in more than 2 years-guess he now knows that the car rides are great...we get ice cream, go visit his kissing cousin, the Pom-Twinkie...etc.... |
That's great! Miko usually doesn't salivate in the car anymore either. Thank goodness :) |
