Help!!! Sagging ear problem! Hi everyone, I have not been around for a few months, traveling with my husband (a musician) and the babies have been on the road too! My Sage has an issue and I am in need of any help from more experienced "parents" (these are my first Yorkies!)... While we were on the road, one of his ear tips began to fold over. So I read in my "Yorkie's for Dummies (that's me!)" and they mentioned that sometime when one ear flops it could be from teething, which he was doing at that time. He also had not had any hair cut, and he has lots of thick hair!!! After three weeks and it not coming back up, I found a good groomer (stayed right there watching) and had his hair trimmed on his ear tips just in case it was from the weight. I also read in my book, to stimulate a lazy ear. I guessed that meant to rub it gently and I have been doing this several times a day. Every now and then, it looks like it wants to stand up, but as soon as he looks forward, it droops (boo-hoo). Well, I have seen some Yorkies that have full hair and drooping ears, and I will absolutely love him just the same if that is what we end with. But his Daddy would like to me to ask you all if you have any suggestions (or if there are any to have) or if we should just let the hair grow and let the ears droop. After paying $3,500 for my little man, it feels kind of strange to have him getting droopy ears, but I know it may be my fault for waiting too long to trim the hair. Again, I have seen pics of Yorkies with drooping, waterfall hair over the ears, and I think it is absolutely adorable, but I want to make sure we have no other option and that it is healthy for him as well. Thank you for any suggestions, it's good to know you all are always here!!! |
i had to shave one of my three year old gals hair recently. One of her ears began to tip over. After I got the hair off, it came right back up. |
Ear drooping! Thank you for the reply! His ear has been drooping for over a month now, how long was yours drooping before you had them shave? Just wondering if it's still worth it. Thank you for your help! |
