Hi I'm new and need you advice Hello, I signed up to this forum ages ago but this is my first post. I have one Yorkie. His name is Linus Pond and he is 20 months old. He is the love of my life and getting him was the best thing I have done. I work and leave him home during the day. I have a dog walker come mid day...not to necessarily take him out but to spend some time with him during the day. I have so much guilt on a daily basis that he is so lonely. The eyes that he gives me when I walk out the door is heart breaking. My thoughts are to get another puppy to keep him company. I am making a list of pros and cons. Help please. I would like to how all the good as well as the bad, the pluses and minuses and the honest truth to help me make this decision. Thank you so much! |
I have no advice since I only have one and am lucky enough to be home with him....but I did want to welcome you. Soon you will become addicted and will post all the time. Patty |
Welcome. I doubt you'll get many minuses here. Sounds like you are in the exact same posititon I was in. Single, work longer hours. I looked at him laying there on the couch one night when I was exhausted from work and thought...."You are sooo bored". So I got him a brother. Another Yorkie was a little out of my price range. My friend has a precious shih poo and the people she got him from had another litter. I went to see him.. There was only 1. My fat little Oliver took off running to me the minute he saw me. It was love. I put him in my pocket and we went home. They love each other. More babies, More love. They definately keep each other company. |
1 Attachment(s) I would also want to get him a brother. I have names picked out and everything. I think i was always planning to get him one but this is years sooner that I thought. Here a picture of my little man sunning himself. |
Even though I work a lot from home, I felt JoJo was laying around too much and looking bored and lonely. We had plenty of play time but it seemed like something was missing for him. He was still a puppy himself at the time (9 months) and I thought if he is going to live a good, long life he should have a brother! We adopted Gucci from Rescue when he was 6 months old and it was the best thing we ever did for JoJo! He came to life, doesn't seem stressed when we have to go out and they just love each other! Gucci also prefers his company and would not have done well alone. I was really thinking of getting a younger dog (around 1-3 years) and not a puppy but Gucci came along and we just couldn't resist applying for him. If you don't want to do the puppy thing again, why not consider a rescue. There are so many great dogs out there! We just attended a Yorkie picnic this past weekend sponsored by Saveayorkie Rescue and there are so many happy endings! Good luck! |
You will love having more than one. They play, sleep, and love one another as we love them. Once in awhile they will even spat with one another like real siblings. Best wishes!! |
