Peeing in MY Bed - HELP! Well, Ringo is nearly 8 months old now. He's been doing pretty good on his house training. I occasionly will find some poop, but I can deal with that. This morning I got up to go to the restroom and I got back in bed on my husband's side. He leaves for work at 2am. Well, I was half asleep, but felt something damp. Argh. Apparently, Ringo peed in the bed. He did this one other time when he was much younger, but I just over looked that as to being young. I love him sleeping with us, but I can't handle him doing this. I think I'm going to make him sleep in his own area now and I need some advice. It seems he always has to have me or someone else touching him. I mean he always likes to be up in someone's lap or if sleeping with them he HAS to be touching them. Me or my husband moves, he moves with us because he needs to be touched. I'm just wondering how traumatic will this be for him to sleep alone. How should I go about doing this? Also, has anyone else's yorkie used the bathroom in their bed? How did you handle it? It really bothers me. |
Ok -- the problem is when he is awoken in the night, if he just slept through all would be well but he is woken and he wants to use the conveniences..!! I have been through this too with previous dogs when my husband was working unsociable hours and always had to get up and let them out when they were woken.. after a while you go on automatic pilot and don't wake up unduly..!! Hope that helps... but as your pup gets older, it will not longer be a problem anyway in my opinion.. not sure what everyone else think?!! Ana xx |
I think your husband just needs to take him out when he gets up to go to work. I think that would be your answer. |
I don't know about anyone else, but I usually have to pee as soon as I wake up too - regardless what time it is... As was mentioned, he probably just needs to be let out to do his thing too. My Tucker almost always gets up and goes in his box anytime I get up in the night so it kind of makes sense your baby just needs to go too.! Dana |
Well its probably just as everyone else has said. He wakes up and has to go. My husband gets up at 4:30 and automatically takes Reagan out, always has, then brings her right back into bed and she goes right to sleep. She has gone a couple times in the bed and I decided it was really better for her to sleep on her own. Reagan was just like yours. When she sleeps in the bed with us she has to be touching us. She would usually lay right up against my back but if not there somewhere where she would feel us. Surprisingly she did real well when we started making her sleep in her pin. She has a little carrier/pet taxi and I put it in our room where she could see us on the bed. The first night she whined a little bit, actually it was more like whimpering, when we first put her in there but after that she was fine. I think she's ok with it because her schedule hasn't changed she still goes to bed around the same time and gets up at the same time. She's usually pretty tired when we go to bed and falls asleep pretty quick. Anyway if you really want him to stay in the bed with you I would try having you or your husband take him out as soon as you/he gets up. Otherwise I think your pup will be fine sleeping on his own. It just may take a couple of days for him to get used to it. |
If he wakes up at night anytime , take him out to p. He is only 8 months old and they usually don't get fully housebroken till 5 mo or so. I wouldn't deprive him from the snuggling, thats just me. They do get seperation anxiety and i can't stand that. He might do ok in the crate at night , some do but some like my Sugar and Gidget would go bilistic! My Pee Wee and Princess go into their crate at night with no problems. They feel secure there. The problem is , that you have already spoiled him to the bed. Good luck! |
Wee Wee Pad Mia :) and Pierce :( love to sleep on the bed with me. Mia jumps by herself on the bed, and then cries so I could put her down. Pierce will just make funny sounds like he is talking. I will tell him what happen LASSIE. Well he has had two accidents already on the bed if he needs to go he will pace the bed to wake me up. I keep a wee wee pad next to the bed. Also, I bought a protecting covering for the mattress  . Now we all could sleep and not have a worry :angel2dl: . Liza Nana to Pierce & Mia :littleang |
