Sadie only barks in the morning! Hello, all! Recently, we have been leaving Sadie (now 4 months) in her pen at night to sleep. She is doing really well, and she loves her bed in the pen. We give her a small treat, pet her, turn off the lights, and say "goodnight" and she knows to stay quiet. HOWEVER, in the morning when she wakes up, she goes into a crazy barking frenzy, and nothing will quiet her down. She does not bark/squeal this way except in the morning. We had heard that ignoring works, but on one morning, she howled for 2 hours, drank some water and rested for 15 min, and continued for another hour with no signs of stopping. Any advice? |
she really wants you to get up, uh! Probably she's thinking, "I've been good all night, now, get up!" At what time is she barking? maybe she needs to go potty, or wants food? or just wants to be with you... :) |
Oh, I left out some details. When we go downstairs to see her after her squealing drives us crazy, she has already pottied (1 and 2) on her pee pad. The food bowls are also halfway full as well. This usually occurs around 6am each day, incl. weekends! We can't get any rest! |
I used to have that problem in the weekends, because I get up early during the week. I think you're going to have to ignore her untill she understands it is still early. I know you want to sleep, but I don't thinks there is another way, unless somebody else has any more ideas... |
