Getting a Yorkie! Hi there! I'm new here and I have some questions. I've managed to convince my parents to allow me to get a Yorkie puppy (I'm 17 and they didn't want to take care of a dog when I leave for college next year, but I persuaded them by offering to pay for everything, get training, and pointing out how much they would enjoy having a dog again). Anyway, I've been looking online and in the newspaper for puppies and I'd like to compile a list of questions to ask the breeder over the phone, then more questions, etc. to ask when I go to pick the puppy up. If you guys could offer any help, that'd be great. :) |
A word of advice...I wouldn't purchase from someone that advertises using words like teacup, micro-teacup, anything with the words teacup or rare. Don't purchase from someone that sells them at a young age. Weights...you can triple their weight at 8 weeks or double the weight at 12 weeks to get an approximation of adult weight. See both parents and see the environment that they are bought in. If they have so many dogs that the dogs live in cages, run the other direction. Find out how long a breeder has been breeding dogs. Look at the parents...are they a nice representation of the breed? Many questions to ask...just look through the threads here. |
Okay, great. I actually found a list of questions online here[http://www.qualitydogs.com/choosingbreeder.asp, and I'm wondering if those will be enough? |
