The Harness Crazies! I swear I have to have a strategic plan to get the harnesses on the monkeys. As soon as I grab them from the entryway all heck breaks loose. Hallie is crawling up my leg barking at me and Simon runs to get his ball. It seriously takes me about 30 minutes from the time I get the harnesses to actually get them on. Then Hallie gets so excited she has to run to the food bowl since she feels the need to eat whenever she gets that excited then she has to try to steal Simon's ball. It's almost as crazy as after bath time  |
:lol tears-- Tell me about it.... sounds like you have been spying at the Hice house! |
HAHAHAHAHA ...that's so funny - At least Hallie just grabs a bite on the run ...Chanel has to poop when she gets excited  - she races to the yard - fires a missle.... then comes back in all excited :D It's a huge ordeal getting 2 little yorkies ready to go out isn't it with all the wiggling and dancing .....Who'd have thunk it :p |
oh oh :D |
These posts certainly make me rethink about getting another one. Conner is a handful to get out of the house, just like a baby. I have to put his harness on, get his water to go, take treats, make sure he has a coat (in winter), leash, put him in the carseat (when we go to the park). |
Does make you think? Is one better than two... or is two twice the love..twice the trouble...I think I'd take the trouble with the love. |
Funny ! Poli gets so exited he runs to the peepad to poop:rolleyes: |
I think having 2 is twice the love and four times the trouble :) hehe but I wouldn't trade it for anything! |
They're really so cute, but I've had it! Max thinks it's a great time to tempt me into a game of "catch me Mommy." This can take a good 20 minutes until I set up enough barriers so that he's cornered and I can grab him. Terriors love to be chased, but I now have him back on his short leash in the house and I'm teaching him to come when I call. He has to come right near me, sit down for his treat, and then I pick him up to put on his harness. Of course he stops just by the kitchen doorway and I have to pull him to me and push down on his butt to get him to sit, carrying on what a good boy he is. It worries me because in case there's a fire or an emergency, I really need him to come, no matter what. |
It's VERY hard to get Sadie into ANYTHING that she doesn't want on. I bought her the cutest little orange life preserver so I don't have to worry as much about her falling into the pool - which she did twice this week (of course I was right there to rescue her). Well, I tried for a half hour yesterday to get the darn life preserver on her - forget it!!! I will definitely need a second person to help with this endeavor!! :p :p :p As for the harness, we've finally got that down to ten minutes!!! |

Aww. A doggie shouldn't be alone in this world without another canine companion.  Just think about taking a human and putting in with only dogs it's whole life! :D Ok, not the same thing.... but two isn't bad at all! |
I'm glad to see that the harness game isn't just an issue here. When I get the harnesses out Daisy runs to the food bowl and starts inhaling her small bites whole and Teddy runs to his perch in the window and kind of cowers. I have to chase both of them down. They love their walks in the park so much so I never could understand why they run from their harnesses. All of the other dogs I have had run TO YOU when they saw their collars and try to shove thier heads into the collars before you are even ready for them. YORKIES!!!.....YOU GOTTA LOVE THEM!!!! |
you guys are hysterical!!! excitement pooping and eating! That's good stuff. Otis gets so excited it hard to get his harness on. One time I left my car door open (the car was in the garage, with the door down) while unloading groceries. After about 10 minutes, I couldn't find him. He was sitting in the car, waiting patiently to go bye bye. I took him for a quick drive, just because he was so cute. don't feel bad Judy, Otis doesn't come to me either. I've tried working with him. He will NOT be trained in this area. I'm hoping it gets better as he gets older. |

:eyetearss :eyetearss Fires a missle??? How far does it go? :D Would anyone like to try 3 Yorkies and a Maltese? :D :D It is very interesting but really not that much more work. A lot of times I actually take them out in twos. Sometimes just one at time depending on who it is and how everyone is acting. (and how tired I am.:) ) Or I take all 4 into the fenced in area. What gets me are the ones who make an art of pooping. Finding the right spot, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, circle, circle, circle....until the poop can't stay in anymore. :yelrotflm It does get tiresome to wait.... |
Gizmo gets so excited when I wake up in the morning! He's a little angel about waiting until he hears me, then he looks like a little rabbit in that playpen. I have to wait for him to calm down some so that I can pick him up. I have NO idea what I would do with two!! Bless your heart, but I can't help thinking that yours is the house I want mine to be. :) |

"I took him for a quick drive, just because he was so cute." :yelrotflm That is way too funny! You have gone above and beyond being a good mom!! :D |
I must admit, though - that mornings are a race.... We come down the stairs, I'm carrying the youngest - I have to get all 4 out before they potty in the house. They've waited all night and it is a RACE! I put Myla down on the front step and she won't leave the step till we all come out. :) If I decide to do the harnesses in the morning, someone WILL pee before we can get out the door. Ah, remember those mornings of waking up and sitting calmly with a nice cup of coffee????? |

I love that Otis was in the car. I would have taken him for a ride too, sitting there like that. |
hahahaha I LOVE your stories about the monkeys. Its histerical to read but i'm sure it gets alittle annoying at times for you. when its time for me and morgan to go out she runs to her carrier, hops in, turns around and then looks at me like "hurry up lets go!!!" So thank god i don't have to chase her around. |
My one year old yorkie has started to eat when we plan to go out! Do you think its a natural instinct as they dont know when out, if they will get food? I thnk it is very cute anyway. I took my yorkie to training classes as I needed him to come on command as dont have time in the morning to faf about, he now appears to know the difference between play chasing and when I need him to come quickly to me. They are fast little learners and love the praise, attention and treats they get during training. |

Yesterday we walked them later than usual and after scarfing down some food they got too warm and got sick in daddys car. I will stick to my usual schedule of walking EARLY before it is too hot and humid and maybe picking up the food bowl in the morning before our walks. I never had this prob until yesterday when we were waiting for daddy to get out of bed to go for a walk w/us. Bad daddy. LOL |

How true... This thread is too funny--because it is the same for us and our two furbabies. We have to have the harnesses on, because we don't have a fenced in area. It is a *nightmare* to get both outfitted and ready to roll. I have tried to take one and then the other, but whoever stays in poops and pees on the floor. In the morning, we have to be SUPER quick to get them both out before they go. Coffee in the morning, leisure time, quiet time...what's that? At our house, it is called yorkietime!!!!! (and we are loving it) As for as the car ride goes, everyday when hubby gets home, he walks in the door and takes the little ones on a *roadtrip*...they expect it. He just drives them through the pasture. Emmy stands on her hind legs and looks out the window. Hubby has to hold Oscar (he can't see otherwise). They bark their fool heads off and then look at hubby! Anyway--They hear him when he drives up after work and run and sit by the door. Their little tails about wag off waiting!:D |
When I open my bedroom door each morning Lucy and Rebel start jumping up and down in their crate. I swear, Rebel jumps so high his head hits the top! When I open the back door they both take off, but Rebel stops at the bottom and waits for Lucy. He's barking like a maniac and when she finally decides to come down the stairs he grabs her by her "beard". I now have to let her out first, then pick him up and hold him until she's down the stairs. If I do it this way he leaves her alone. (He's 4.5 lbs and she' 11) You'd think she's go bonkers on him treating her that way, but she doesn't. |
LOL, these posts make me feel better:D . Ginger (who can be a raving lunatic at times) is so calm and poised when its time to groom, put on her harness, etc...that when we got Bernie, who's very laid back most of the time, I was surprised by the change in attitude when I grab the harness. He races around banging the door and doing EVERYTHING but letting me put his harness on :D |
I go get Daisy BEFORE I pick up the harness now. It is much easier. lol |
