Trial date set in the case of the place-kicked dog, Gizmo Friday, 06/22/07 Trial date set in the case of the place-kicked dog, Gizmo A trial date for two men accused in the drop-kicking death of Gizmo, a Yorkshire terrier, was set Friday for Oct. 22, Susan Niland, a spokeswoman for the Davidson County District Attorney General’s office said. Chad Crawford and Michael Lee Davis, are charged with the intentional killing of an animal and aggravated cruelty to an animal, in a case that made headlines around the nation. Davis held the dog while Crawford kicked it high up in the air as if it were a football, police said. The dog went soaring before its body slammed against the pavement as its owner watched in horror. —SHEILA BURKE OMG!!! I did NOT read about this! And his name was Gizmo???? |
Those people should be drop-kicked. This makes me so mad and sad for that poor helpless animal. |
It's really hard to just read about this. What vile creatures! |
bet they aren't punished! Wish I could be there for the trial, but then I'd be removed for disruption of the court or something! Bet they just get community service..... Too bad we can't get them on the way out of court! (they'd put us in jail for harrassment...ha, or WORSE!) roxanne in nc |
Pigs:mad: |
OMG! I can't believe I can still be shocked- but I can. Where is Davidson Co.? There's plenty of time to try to drum up media attention on this. Public outcry might make a difference in these lunatic's punishment. Thanks for posting it! |
They need to reword the headlines to "The MURDERED dog". I remember that and can't believe it took this long to go to trial - no wonder no one is scared of the court system...there's no deterrent if something like this takes years |
I am assuming somewhere in Tennessee as the newspaper was The Tennessean - Nashville,TN,USA |
Okay, all you TN girls, start your letter writting!;) |
I don't live in TN, but I plan to write a letter myself. :D I plan to write letters to the editor to several papers in that area. I wonder if they will be able to get an impartial jury in that area? I know there was some discussion of this early on in the case. (I went back and searched archives to find the initial stories.) |
Who are you writting? I'm more than happy to write one myself. |
Ha, I got it- the governor. I was thinking local news organizations and writing editorials which probably has the most impact from locals but we can show the governor that the whole country is watching. |
When I find the addresses, I will let you know! I was just wondering if it wouldn't be better to wait until Sept. to write? The trial is set for Oct. and I'm afraid if we start too soon, people will forget. I certainly won't forget this, but politicians and such have short memories! Hummm...I wonder if any judges are up for re-election in Nov. ? When I find the newspaper addresses, I will let you know. |

The really sad thing is that you just KNOW he's barely going to get his hand slapped. Let me guess, 6 months jail time (only having to serve half or less), a fine, and won't be allowed to own a pet for a year. That'll fix him....NOT! :thumbdown |
