Matts... Hi, my little girl seems to get so matted after wearing clothes. She seems to have very thin hair, and iscold easy, shivers so I like to keep something on her when she seems cold but she get matted even after a coulple hours. Does anyone else have this problem and what do you do? |
When buying clothing, buy something that is lined. Is she a cotton coat? Most cotton coats will mat all the way to the skin. Also, what kind of shampoo/conditioner do you use? Just like with human hair, each product will cause your hair to "react" a different way. |
I tried to put a sweater on my yorkie when he was young, after a few hours of wearing it I took it off & I was shocked, he looked like a wad of steel wool  I was so scared I wasn't going to get it out, it took a while but I did...after a couple more attempts I gave up ....he has a cottony coat...now in the winter if I do put it on it's put on only for bathroom trips ...... |
Jewels used to matt when I put clothes on her too. She doesnt anymore. What I started doing was shampoing her with Minksheen shampoo and I condition her with pantene. I leave the pantene on 20 minutes. |
Well if the stimulus is wearing clothes, why not just stop putting clothes on him?? I mean, it isn't necessary to clothe the dog I'm sure... |

I love to dress Lacy and luckily she doesn't matt easily at all so she usually doesn't get tangles from clothes. I do have a couple outfits though, especially ones that seem tighter on her that will tangle her hair some. Maybe you can find a shirt that isn't as tight on him. That would probably help some. |
