how do you put a onsie on? Tia got spayed 2 days ago and the "lampshade" is not working out. I came home from work today and in the couple of hours that she was alone (my husbnd was home for part of the day) I see her greeting me happily in the hallway - sans-cone! I found it by her bed, the outer-edge chewed mercilessly. It's also her new toy that she loves to carry while I chase her around the house ("Not gonna put this back on me mom!") I had bought a onsie for her, and I don't know what to do with the snaps that would be at the baby's crotch. Do you snap all 3 and leave her tail inside? Keep the middle snap open for her tail to come out? She picks at the snaps and I'm wondering if it's because there is no logical place for her tail to go (it is docked). Well, I'd rather she picked at her snaps that licked her stitches. Poor Tia! When she was wearing her cone last night and walking past the bed, a corner of my comforter got caught on her cone and she couldn't figure out why she couldn't walk forward. Poor thing needs her dignity back, so if anyone can help, that would be great! |
Cut a hole for her tail she will be more comfortable. |
Your baby is adorable...I'm just wondering - where do you get onesies small enough for Yorkie puppies? |
When Cozy went through heat I used a onsie to prevent her from putting blood all over the place and staining. I just a preemie baby one. I just put what would be the front of the onesie on a human on to her back. Her tail stuck perfectly through where the crotch would be and then I just snaped two of the three snaps together. Also she could not get it off and neither could my golden. |
Probably a silly question but how do they go to the bathroom? My apologies for highjacking the thread:confused: |

That's pretty much what we did too. After a couple of days we were able to roll up the bottom part with the snaps and she just wore it like a t-shirt. We bought a pkg of 5/6 of them at Wal Mart. |
When my Tia Maria got spayed, I got her onsie right away - the halo thing is terrible...I just unsnapped it when she had to go to the bathroom. She healed great with no infection at all. I just had my other Yorkie, Johnny fixed last week and he sported the pink onsie I got for Tiatoo! Ciao cute...his father was a little upset though |
4 Attachment(s) Heres some pics I took of my onsie after I cut just where the tail starts and all the way around almost to the snaps. It worked perfectly! |
That is a great idea and thanks for the pictures. |
