I do fruits and veggies too!! Apples Pears watermelon cantaloupe peaches cherries cherry tomatoes green beans carrots |
I do not know if it is all healthy, but Riley likes apples, tomatoes, pickles, steak, roast, chicken, porkchops, fruit snacks, and just about anything you can think of. He loves tuna fish but I hate it so only my stepdad feeds him that. We don't feed TJ people food cause we don't want him to dislike his dog food like Riley does. Dogs CANNOT have chocolate, grapes, and onions and also a few other things. |

ps. they are cheaper than human food anyhow (the box I bought 6 months ago for $1.99 at Walmart is still more than 1/2 full) |

.. Im Taking Her To The Vet Friday Night So I Will Find Out Everything I Need To Know... Im Writing All The Questions Down On Paper. Is There Any Questions I Need To Ask The Vet That You Think Is Important In Any Situation? |
Good idea writing down your questions. If you're like me I'd forget half of them by the time I got there. |
Pupcorn Both my boys love Pupcorn, I also give milk chocolate in small doses, they love people ice cream, banana popsicles, string cheese, small meatballs made especially for them, carrots, bananas, watermelon (seedless kind, they go nuts over), toddler chicken sticks, vienna sausages (from the can), they hate dog biscuits, and 90% of dog treats and I have tried them all. They think that they are people. |
I use apples and carrots as of right now..i'm trying to let him know he's not going to people food all the time! |
I've heard that Honey Nut Cheerios are a good addition to a small dog's diet to help prevent hypoglycemia (sp?). I've also heard of people giving cottage cheese and eggs every once in a while. Someone told me that if you give a dog a raw chicken breast every once in a while that it helps to clean their teeth? Has anyone else heard of this? |
I posted this in a thread I had made.. maybe it can help you, too! FOOD DOGS CAN EAT: Vegetables. Most veggies are OK for dogs, either raw or cooked. Stay away from onions and garlic because they can cause anemia in dogs. Rice and pasta. Low in fat and calories, these foods make great treats. Use these to add some bulk for weight control diets. Cooked meats without bones. Small amounts of cooked red meat may be OK when fed occasionally and in moderation. Remember that cooked meats can be high in fat and do not contain the proper balance of nutrients your dog requires. Dairy products. Dairy products, such as cottage cheese, low-fat yogurt, and hard-boiled eggs are OK when fed in moderation. Fruits. Dogs will eat both fresh and dried fruits. Stick with apples, berries, bananas, and seedless watermelon. Don't let your dog eat too much! Too much fruit may upset your dog's digestive system. FOODS TO KEEP AWAY FROM DOGS: Sweets. Under any circumstances, DO NOT let your dog eat dark chocolate. The chemical theobromine contained in chocolate is toxic to canines and even in small amounts can prove to be fatal. Uncooked red meat and bones. Uncooked meats may contain harmful bacteria, parasites, and cysts, which may make your dog sick. Bones may be dangerous because they can splinter and puncture your dog's gastrointestinal tract. Chicken and turkey bones are a potential hazard for your pooch. These small bones can splinter and puncture the stomach or intestines, or cause choking. Grapes and raisins can be toxic to canines if eaten in large amounts. Onions and garlic can cause anemia in dogs. |

As far as raw chicken...well humans can get sick from raw chicken so it would make sense that dogs could too. But maybe their systems can handle it...I don't know. |
