I agree with what everyone has to say here. It seems as though the originator of this thread is only out to create controversy or gain attention. I've read some of NODAK's other threads, and it truely seems as though he never wanted this pup in the first place. The BEST decision to be made for the pup (so that he turns out well) is to put him in a new home that truely wanted him and is able to have the time, love, and patience for him. It's just animal cruelty to treat a puppy in this manner. |
I, for one, will not read this poster's threads again. Anyone who gets a rush from other's trying to help is just plain "evil". I truly hope there is no pup involved. Just someone trying to create negative feedback and enjoying every minute of it. |
Please listen to everyone's advice. This puppy can't be 'trapped' in a crate all day and all night, I just read your back posts and neither of you come home during the day to let him out??? That's just plain cruel, he will start to have a lot more behavorial issues besides lying in pee and poop. He needs to stretch and play and learn where it is ok to do potty. Here is a great x-pen from Walmart ($49.84). If you have it shipped to the store, you don't have to pay for shipping: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=1762412 Also, here is a great place to buy wee wee pads. I never liked newspaper, it is dirty and it doesn't absorb, and I would also find bugs under them. YUCK! http://cgi.ebay.com/200CT-HOUSEBREAK...QQcmdZViewItem Look, if you start to treat this puppy the way it deserves to be treated and cared for and loved, I guarentee you, HE WILL LOVE YOU SO MUCH and YOU WILL JUST BE IN HEAVEN ;) |
Wow, I'm in shock. I don't even know what to say. |
Nodak, In your first post here you were very clear about not wanting a Yorkie. Your reasons were valid. You both work, you're not home on weekends, and you really didn't want one. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. You got one anyway, I would imagine to keep your fiancee happy. You're not happy. So...you need to sit down with your fiancee and talk it out with her. I don't think you're on here to start a controversy. I think you're here to vent those feelings that you need to share with your girlfriend. We can't help you with that. Good luck - you have to do this. |
Please, please do the right thing for this poor baby...or "it" as you call him. If there really is a puppy please put your ego aside and let someone who loves dogs take over the proper raising of this sweet Tanner. I am sure there are people on this website who can rehome him. Patty |

How Dare you come into this forum and stir these ladies up and cause them to worry about the welfare of one of Gods gift to us. Animals are living being and should also be treated with love and respect. These ladies have done all but come to your house and set everything up. They will and have helped people in ways you must have missed in here. I am not as new as my posts reflect as caused by change in server, and I have been here long enough to know this, you will not last, being the way you have been in all your posts, you mess with these ladies and you will lose. I pray you rehome your little one until your ready because you are far from ready to own a pet, any pet. |

With those long hours, I can see why he lays on his waste. They aren't humans, so they don't necessarily think it's "dirty" to do so. He's gotten use to it, and clearly he has no problem with it, considering the small amount of space he has. I use to keep Missy in her crate for some long hours and boy did I ever regret it, so I chose to keep her in a bigger area, where everything is basically 'baby' proof. You should definitely get a pen :) |
You are seriously going to ruin that baby's skin if you keep giving him a bath everyday. You need to fix this situation, i.e. put him in a bigger area during the day. |
If someone locked you in a crate for long time , you would lay in your urine too . |
I think he wants you to rehome him and that's why he lays in his own waste. He thinks if you get mad enough, he will go to a great home where someone is home regularly. Please tell Heid to think of the puppy instead of herself and let the puppy go to a loving home. |
I was involved in your very first post. i believe I was one of the first to suggest that you were actually enjoying our reactions to your "he's just a dog" posts, etc. In my opinion you should re-home your Tanner. You sound like a person of average intelligence. Why then, have you not done searches on this site, and elsewhere on the internet, to discover that... 1.. Yorkies are one of the hardest breeds to housebreak. 2. Puppies should only be crated for short amounts of time. Not even the smartest, most obedient, loyal puppy will be able to hold their urine for very long. 3. Crates should be small (according to size of dog) I'm sad for Tanner, because he should be romping and playing and doing puppy things. I'm sad for you because I don't believe you really want this baby, and he is a baby, but are trying to stick with it because of your girlfriend. Arm yourself with knowledge. There are a lot of people here who would love to help you. Please don't use YT for your own amusement. We have many new people every day who appreciate and accept the opinions and suggestions the YTers give, even if they disagree. this is why people come to this site.... For opinions and suggestions, not arguements and what comes off as "disrespect" of Tanner or any other animal. |

Go that right! |
Please hire someone to come to your house and let Tanner out during the day. He should not be crated that long. It's really going to result in a problematic dog, and it's such a sad life for a dog to be crated 20hours a day. I know where I live there is a great pet sitter that charges $16. I've only used her to take care of my cats while I'm out of town, but it's a great option if I ever need someone to walk Lacy for me if for some reason I have to leave her at home longer than I thought. I'm sure you can find someone who will come to your house and let Tanner out to potty and play with him a while. He's never going to be potty trained the way things are going now. Dogs don't train themselves. And he's really going to have some socialization issues as he gets older being alone as much as he is...especially during this critical time in his life. If you're determined to keep this baby, please do all you can to give it a quality life. |

And you wonder why he was shivering in his towel. By the tone of your post you sounded very angry with him and I will bet you showed it when you were "gently" giving him and warm bath. Did you love on him or shout at him. Do you honestly think Tanner WANTS to lay in his own urine? Please if you can't learn to at least be able to pleasantly tolerate Tanner....helll, send him to me and I will love on him. Patty |

If I was neglectful, I wouldn't bathe him at all. |
There is a BIG difference between being neglectful (which I didn't accuse you of) and really loving an animal. |
Well actually you are being neglectful because its YOUR fault that he's sleeping in his own urine. He may be a sweet little puppy now, but keep this up and you're going to have an aggressive dog on your hands that bites. You obviously don't want him. Have you called the breeder? She would probably be willing to take him back. And you cannot continue to give him a bath everyday. You're going to dry his skin and coat out and cause skin irritation. |

You can't continue to bathe him everyday like that!! Why don't you work on correcting the problem and spending more time to teach him than to just give him a bath everyday so he doesn't get urine in your damn house! If feel sorry for little Tanner and would gladly take him off your hands and care for him and give him the love and understanding he needs. You have no clue! |
You really need to get an xpen it would solve all your problems. Also with the hours that you are away you should peepad train Tanner rather than outside train |
Poor tanner:( he needs love & attention, bathing him everyday is not good, please get the xpen everyone is telling you about, then you wont have have that daily chore. |
Do you really think he has a Tanner (or a Heidi for that matter)? |
