A hello and a thank you Hi everyone! As often as I read information on Yorkie Talk's forum I decided to finally join. My husband and I are a military family living in Daegu, S. Korea with our 3 cats and one absolutely adorable :D Yorkie puppy, Eury. We've had her for about a month and absolutely love her to pieces. She's a tiny thing, currently coming in at just under 2 pounds but she has a BIG personality. We are in the process of potty-training her but it's definitely a process. The hardest, most frustrating thing for us though is her pickiness when it comes to food. I've resorted to sitting on the floor and hand feeding her chunks of moist food but even then it's iffy. (BTW thanks for the yogurt tip... I'm going to have to try that!) Thank goodness for Nutri-Cal though! It was recommended by our vet and she loves it. So if she doesn't eat then I make sure that she gets that at least and I feel a little better. Eury is so much fun to be around. The latest thing she learned is that if she runs as fast as she can and then stops suddenly she will slide on the hardwood floors. I swear when she does it you can almost hear the giggles. Anyways, thanks for all the information! It truly has been a life saver! :aimeeyork Chelle |
HI and welcome to YT! so glad you came aboard:) |
Welcome and congrats on your puppy!!! Adorable little thing!!! |
Welcome! You're not originally from Texas, are you? I know it's far-fetched but I used to know someone that spells her name (nickname actually) like you do and it's possible she married a military man. Just wondering. Tatum also LOVES the hardwood floor slide. She's learned to judge exactly when she needs to stop to keep from ramming into the wall or furniture. It's entertaining to watch though! As for the food, they say a dog will not purposely starve themselves so you might, just maybe, be getting taken by that pup! I did have to hand feed Tatum when she was new to us because I changed her food and she wasn't thrilled about it. After a couple days of hand feeding, I tried making it a chase game where I slid the food on the floor and she chased it and ate it. Then I started just giving her no other choice but to eat it out of the bowl and she did. As long as you hand feed it though, that pup will take full advantage of the situation. Good luck! |
OMG your a millitary spouse too!!! You see up here in Maine there is hardly any millitary spouses. So when ever I meet one (even online) I just get all excited!!! LOL I know I am a dork but OWELL.:D S. Korea, that must be so awsome!!! Anyways YT is just awsome. :yorkietal I can't wait to see pics of your little Yorkie baby! How cool and Welcome! |
I am from Texas! WOW! Chelle is short for Rochelle. :) Initially I thought the same thing about a dog not intentionally starving themselves but then Eury started to show signs of low-blood sugar so the vet gave us Nutri-cal and instructed us to try and make sure she eats regularly. Mind you she LOVES cat food (even tried putting a small bit on top of her food) but refuses to eat it when it's touching dog food she doesn't want. The hand feeding isn't even all that successful except when we "trick" her to eat. The biggest success we had was today, I picked up a new kind of food with real chunks of meat and she ate 1/2 a can, ie she ate the chunks and left the rest. *shaking head* :aimeeyork Chelle |

We truly love S. Korea! What is especially nice is that they LOVE LOVE LOVE small dogs here. Accessories, small and x-small clothes, and supplies for small dogs are everywhere. And our vet (a sweet Korean man who speaks English wonderfully and is recommended by the base vet clinic) is so familiar with small dogs and Yorkie's in particular that we are getting spoiled. Here is a link to some photos of our Eury: http://new.photos.yahoo.com/ladyeury...60762403487171 |
