we went out on a boat for about 8 hours today. it was maggies first experience....she did very good :) I took her travel crate and put her in it a couple of times so she would get some rest. each time, she got mad and screamed for about 5 seconds then fell asleep. she was pooped :)

here are some pics from the day...

1 "oh goody...we are going on a boat...what's a boat???"


2 "the wind in my hair...sun on my face...this is GREAT"


3 "WELL, the sun in my face is a bit much...I think I will hang out here for a bit...."


4 "wait a minute...what happened??? why am I in the water??? GET ME OUT!!!!"


all in all, it was a GREAT day.

no...not exactly :) she was gently placed in the water by her loving mother :)

it was so funny because when she got back on the boat, she started violently barking at one of the floats we had that looks like a GIANT turtle. so I told her "go get it" and she ALMOST jumped in after it. it was too funny!!!!

Those pics are adorable. She is sooo beautiful. We just bought a boat this week and I can't wait to take Hannah out on it. I bought a life vest from Mizzwanned (Sarah) and I will try it out hopefully next week. Any suggestions for a yorkies first boat ride?

How fun! Vixxen loves to go out on our boat too! She looks so cute in her life jacket :p I bought her a boogie board...she when I go in the water, she comes too and she can get her feet and whole bottom of her wet to cool off. Course, she usually ends up swimming :D

Love the pics! I would love to take Benji and Chico out in the future.....but what do you do when they have to go potty? I know it's a weird question but I don't see how such a tiny dog could hold it so long. Did you put pee-pads in her crate? Sorry for the silly question but I really have never understood how people can take along their furbabies without pit-stops. Thanks in advance! :)

oh...we had plenty of pit stops. we stopped on the little islands and swam and stuff. she walked around off the boat quite a bit. we also stopped for gas and for the human folk to go potty :)

nope...she did great. i was very proud of her. but she is pretty well potty trained (with the exception of accidents at petsmart and the vet).

Lucky you! :D Do you think I should I wait until Benji is completely potty trained before taking him out? Or should I start him early and try this summer (or anytime after, I do live in FL so there is no rush LOL)?

i really don't know. i mean...does he do ok with his pottying? we made lots of stops so we were on/near land quite a bit and she was able to go to the bathroom a lot. i would say that if you take him out, be sure to stop as much as possible to let him do his business. and if he is crate trained, take his travel crate. this way he can get rest when he needs it.

if you do take him, take lots of pics and PLEASE share :)

Those pics are sooo cute, it looks like you all had fun! A friend of ours has a boat, and we usually spend alot of time on it in the summer. I haven't gone out on it yet this year because I'm afraid to take Jake, and I don't want to leave him all day. It took him a little while to get used to the car, but he loves riding in it now. We started taking him more places than the vet, so he likes going everywhere now. I worry about sea sickness, but I think it would be fun to take him.

He does ok, but that is because I know his routine and am able to stay home and monitor him (I am a college student and am on Summer vaca right now). We haven't had any problems so far with him having "accidents" in his crate at night which is a good sign. I'll just wait until he is older and has more control over his bladder during the day.

Thanks for the wonderful advice! I'll be sure to post pics when we go. :)

Maggie your a little water diva, she looks like she was having so much fun...well until the water thing...:D but your still have your little diva status, your hair & bow looked marvelous the whole time....:)
