Hairless Yorkie? Did anyone ever hear of a Yorkie with little to no hair on back and ears but long golden hair on chest and belly? If so please tell me more because I think my dog is this. I adopted him so I don't know too much about his breed. |
the only thing i can think of is it was a blue born yorkie. |
look up blue born. they can have serious medical issues. if you adopted her from a breeder, i would take her back asap |
1 Attachment(s) I adopted him from a shelter and he is 5 years old and I had him for a year with no medical issues. He is just odd looking. I have attached a picture. Let me know what you think. |
Hmm, I've never seen that. Maybe he's mixed with a short haired breed? |
When you adopted him, did he have any hair on his back? Did it grow out at all? He could be a mix or maybe he just got the schnauzer cut. |
It could be a thyroid problem or some kind of skin condition.... I would take him to the vet and get a complete check up. Or it could just the way the shelter clipped his hair! |
He could be a yorkie mixed with chinese crested. He seems to have a little longer face and ears like a crestie but the color of a yorkie |

Also, I feed him Orijen and Nordic Natural Cod Liver oil once a day. He is also adopted and was in a shelter environment (home but with 13 other dogs). Your pup looks so sweet and congratulations. |
Thanks everyone for your feedback. I had him for a year so it's definitely not a hair cut. he has been to the vet but we only did blood work to test for heart worm so I will look into getting blood work to test his thyroid. I don't think it's mange since I have another dog and 3 cats and none of them have gotten mange. I always thought he was mixed with Chinese Crested but he's only 8lbs. and I know that they are much bigger. His temperament is definitely a Yorkie though. |

Hi. I'm not sure what his situation was prior to you adopting him but I do know that some Yorkies that have come into rescue were so badly infested with fleas, bad nutrition etc. that they had loss of hair. Sometimes it can take years before the hair grows back as it should and sometimes it never does. Elaine |
All I know is that he's cute! He won my heart just from the photo, so I can see why you adopted him. I hope it's a mixed breed thing and not a health issue. What's his name? |

he is a cutie. he looks like a yorkie mixed w dashound (they have short hair), he has the long snout and long body. like i said, he is a cutie. |
Well whatever this little guy is mixed with sure doesn't take away from his cuteness. He sure is lucky to have been adopted into such a loving home!!! |
Thanks. He is cute and I love him! ~Jeni |

What a cutie! Aren't you glad you found him? What's his name? He'll probably need a coat in the cold weather. |
His name is Rudi and he definitely needs his sweater in the winter. He also loves to sleep under the covers (even when it's warm in the house). |
I have seen a hairless yorkie. The lady who lives by me and breeds yorkies bought a male. She didn't know what the heck was wrong with him. After lots of research she found out it was a "hairless" yorkie. He only grows hair where the brown would be on a regular yorkie. He was um, not the most handsome of fellows so she didn't use him as a stud but gave him away as a pet. She has specifically wanted a stud for her females so she wasn't very happy but he did find a new home. |
What ever he is mixed w/he is very cute!:aimeeyork |
I'm pretty sure there was another post on YT awhile ago about a Yorkie that didn't have any hair on his body. I can't find it but I remember reading it and seeing a picture. Your little Rudie is a cutie. I love his nose! |
I'm still thinking a Yorkie/chinese crested mix. A Chinese Crested is a toy dog and not that much bigger than a yorkie(of course just like yorkies you will see them in all sizes). I believe cresties are supposed to be between 5-12lbs on average. Here is a couple pictures of the mix http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/c/crustie.htm They all look very different from each other. On the crestie/shihtzu mix you can see a pic of a dog with the coat pattern like yours (hairless on back) http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/crestedtzu.htm |
