I know it may seem like something small and shouldn't be made into something so big but this just isn't right. All I want are answers from the vet and all he's doing is avoiding the quesitons by saying he didn't do it. I don't want to just drop it and act like it never happened but what else can I do if he's denying it? |
That is really wrong of the vet. I am so sorry he is doing that to you. You don't need to drop it. I would be really upset if that had happened to one of my babies. You need to keep after them. I hope you find out soon. |
How old is your baby? Has he had anesthesia for teeth cleaning or something else perhaps at another vet? Could it have happened at an earlier visit elsewhere and you just noticed it? |

absolutely unfreaking unbelievable. Disgusting that this happened and they want to act like they don't know about it. When was he neutered? Doesn't a vet normally make note when they check over an animal of any sort of markings as a tattoo? I would tell them that you are taking your dog to another vet for his future care and would like a copy of the records. |
I can't believe he asked you to leave! Unbelievable! Where on Earth does he think the tattoo came from? Maybe your dog had a few too many and wondered into a tattoo parlor? I would be furious too! |

LOL...such an image. Gave me a good laugh. |
I'll tell you what.... This should end all of the round and round arguing with that vet! When you establish any animal as a new patient it is the vets responsibility to do an exam and take a detailed patient history. During that exam he does a physical, and he makes notes of the dogs breed, markings, they check for microchips, TATOOS, and do an oral exam as well as the ol' therm up the bum! All of this info goes into your pets FILE. A file that they add to each time you come to visit! If your dog had that tattoo before that surgery, it would have been noted. And your Vet knows it! I'd file charges just to make a point. Its one thing to make a mistake.. Its something else to deny it and not make amends. |

Sounds like a good plan! If it is a tattoo, what's it of? |

Say it is a tattoo, I think you would have to get written proof from an expert (a tattoo artist or another vet) and probably take it to small claims court. What are the damages though - in other words, you would sue him for money, but for what exact damages? I watch too much of the People's Court, but I think you have to prove why he should pay you money - what damage was done to the dog or to you or what contract did he break, etc. I'm not saying you shouldn't take it further, I'm just saying you need to show real damages. Maybe the tattoo itself is a damage, or maybe there's a contract of sorts when you go to a vet. |

As far as suing or filing charges, I don't think I want to do that. I just want him to admit what he did and fix it or go over it with another tatoo that looks suitable for an animal free of charge. There are no mental damages done to Buttercup just a little physical damage to his skin because of that stupid thing. I'm changing vets. One who doesn't have the balls to admit to what he did is not the one I would want taking care of my pets. He even told me it's nothing to worry about because it's not visible to people or dogs. HA! Who does he think he is?!? A dog has their dignity too! |
Just curious what vet it is. My roommate has worked at a vet in Houston before so she's wondering who it was? |
I would be so mad if someone did something to my dog without permission. I can't believe they won't at least admit that they did it. |
how long ago was it done? i know with my hubby being a tattoo artist you can tell when it was fresh and when it was done by the skin, so i mean if you have had him since he was a pup and you know its not there before and it is now, i would simply call then and ask for a copy of all medical records becuase your lawyer wants to take a look at them and begin building his case, you may feel weak or a littel scared saying it to them but say it and then when they say hold on etc etc or come by and get them stay strong i mean after all they didnt pay for your pup, they didnt pay all your vet bills, and food ,etc you do and you didnt ask for this thing to be on him, if saying you are taking it to a lawyer and they still wont admit it, then change vets by all means but they should fess up, mistake or not, they can easily refund you the neture fee or something, i mean thats ridiculous of them, and i am mad for you definately dont let it go and tell as many peopl as you want to thats crazy poor pup, at least you cared for his diginity by covering up his base balls with well ummm baseballs :D let us know what happens |
I'm real sorry and I would be totally ticked too. However, it's obvious the vet isn't going to own up to it, your baby isn't harmed and since tatoos are permanent there really isn't anything he can do about it. It's there. I would file a complaint against the vet with the licensing board, BBB, attorney generals office or whomever. I would make it a point to tell everyone I knew to never ever go to his office. I agree if he did it he should compensate in some way for it, but how so, I don't know. I would find another vet and have them obtain a copy of your records and go from there. Unfortunatley you can't remove it and I personally wouldn't put my baby through it again to 'fix' it. |

Not the one she worked at. She didn't know anything about that one. I hope the vet does something to make this right |
I agree with Kathryn...they should have a record if it was there before. As for damages, this is how I would feel about it....I would have to pursue the issue just so it doesn't happen to someone else's baby. I mean, he needs to be more careful and double check his orders to see what he is supposed to be doing. |
Maybe they tatooed the wrong dog |

That's what I was thinking too. If that's the case, I wouldn't be very happy about it. |

is it your dog? I am sure you would know your own pup. It is probably a bruise of some sort. |
This is so very interesting. Why would you tatoo a dog who was in for surgery? Charlie was neutered and he has obscure round black marking when his "boys" must have been. He had this done before I adopted him. If alcohol doesn't bring off the marking, then it has to be permanent. If I read your post correctly, did the vet admit to permanently tattooing other animals? I though perhaps it was a permanent marker because when I had my hip surgery, I had to mark the leg myself and location. Definitely, find another vet and to fix the marking would cause him more pain. Good luck. |
