Some stalling and a question I am leaving in the morning on my way to Texas :D I haven't done one darn thing except sit on YT all day! So, I figured since I'm sitting here doing nothing, I may as well ask a question. When we get ready to come home, Gracie-Belle will be almost 10 weeks old. Do ya'll think that is too young for me to go ahead and bring her with me? I know ideally she should stay with her mom until at least 12 weeks, but that would mean putting her on a plane and I'd rather not do that if I don't have to. ~Graleyne |
Hi and congrats on your new baby:) I brought charlie home when he was 9 weeks and he did just fine, the breeder was only 10 min from me so that helped a bit.and when i brought karleigh home she was only 10 weeks and was about 2 hrs from me and she did fine also.good luck to you hope everything goes well.:) :) |
I brought my baby home at 8 weeks only because he had special needs and she had to go out of town on family emergency and instead of letting her family member take care of him too I got him early and did it myself and I think it was good as it really bonded us. He was born with a split in his nose which made it hard for him to feed from his mommie, so he was bottle feed every 3 hours by the breeder and i continued it at home til he was able to eat food from his bowl and drink his water!!! And I love him dearly so go get your baby and bring him/her home!!! :) and congrats on your new addition to your family!!! |
She'd probably be fine. We're going to go to get my Ocean day after tomorrow (in TX also), and he's 10 weeks. We were going to wait the full 12 weeks, but due their daughter's summer plans and work schedules we are going now when they can meet us half way. Rhapsody was 9 weeks. . . I think Tiger was about 10 weeks, maybe close to 12, lol, I'm having a hard time remembering now. :D But Rhapsody was definately 9 weeks, and she was fine. |
Oh thank ya'll so much! I feel better now. I was feeling guilty and like I was doing something really bad by bringing her home a little earlier. She's 7 weeks old now (almost 8) and I get to go and spend 2 weeks with her, her mommy, and her sisters. It's going to be so much fun! I can't wait to post pictures of her which hopefully I will be able to do this weekend! |

A friend of mine's mom is a breeder there. She is the one I got Annie-Belle from. Annie-Belle passed away in March (was a freak and horrible accident). She has had a LOT going on lately. Her husband has been in the hospital, etc. So, she worked out with me that if I come down and spend a couple weeks helping her out getting her home and office cleaned and organized and help her with the dogs some (bathing them, etc) that I can have my choice of puppies she has available. That's another reason I'm going now, before she posts them for sale. I get first pick! |

If your friends mom thinks it's ok, it should be ok...I haven't waited the full 12 weeks that is advised either. I think Spencer was 10 weeks, but I know Winston was just a little less then 9 weeks. Spencer was much more of a handful then Winston was. Maybe he would have been easier had I waited, but it all worked out fine...nothing wrong. I think, if they can be with their litter mates longer they are suppose to be better socialized...now that I think about that, Winston is definitely anti-social...a bit of a stuck up snob maybe. But he sure loves us, and we do love him dearly. Good luck with your new addition to the family...and do have a safe trip!!! |
On my way! I'm on my way! I can't wait to see my baby girl! I'm so excited! ~Graleyne |
How exciting!!! You better post pictures as soon as you see her! :D I don't think it should be a problem to bring her home earlier. Her breeder knows best, and I know she wouldn't let her go if she thought it would be a danger. P.S. - Have fun in Texas with your son your friend...and with the redecorating! |
