Do you have this problem? Sometimes (frequently) Sophie gets her mind set on something, like today, when she was barking (because the plumber is working in our laundry room), and she won't come near me. I wanted to put her in the bedroom to calm her down, even had her favorite treat in my hand, but she would not let me catch her. I finally put the treat on the bed (while she was watching) and went into another room where I could see her. She went into the bedroom, and I closed the door.;) Now, peace and quiet. Once she is in the bedroom with the door closed, she is fine. But we have to go through this whole game of "You Can't Catch Me" first.:p |
yep when Bella is set on doing something she is gonna do it! Head strong and Determined! |
Mine does the same thing when I have visitors over. I guess they want your visitors to know who's boss. |
Us too Oscar is catchable, you cannot catch Emmy. So if she doesn't want to do something or be put somewhere, she WILL win!:D |
Baxter is a real pain in that respect too - Can get pretty frustrating - I guess it's just a game they play - but it's not fun when I don't want to play lol:eek: |
They're terriers, which means the more you chase them, the harder they are to catch:laugh: They don't want the game to end:p I have to nonchalantly walk past mine, like ignore them totally, then spin about and scoop them up. I don't even look their way when doing this, it works like a charm:D Keep working on getting her to come to YOU. There are lots of training tips on here if you do a search;) |
Jake does this too, and it's just a big game to him. It sometimes takes two of us to catch him. The funny thing is, he'll peek around the couch or chair to make sure I'm still trying to catch him.....and he's got a big 'ole smile on his face because it's fun for him! :D |
My little Pita does this when she has a toy in her mouth. You can say "get your rope" and she will scour the house for it and then jog around you saying to herself..."just try and get it!!", with big playful eyes. It is a great game to her. She wants you to try and get it but when you do, she gets very possessive. She will growl and make a big fuss, but as soon as you give it back to her...away she goes, playing keep away again. She definitely lets you know when she has had enough...she turns into a little she devil! I love my girl!! |
Max does this, and I have to admit I am totally fed up with it. I called him to come - treat and all involved, yesterday to put his leash on for a nice long walk. He decided it was "catch me" time. Cesar Millan would have had me arrested! I was the furthest thing from calm and assertive. I'm going to be really strict about this because as I was losing it, I thought about a fire or other emergency. What if he decides to play "catch me" then? I've been calling him to come a lot with a treat ready. He has to come close to me and sit to get his treat. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. |
They did that at bath time. Soon as I started washing one, the other took off and hid. They learned that if they get under the bed right in the middle, then I can't get them. Now I take both, bring them in the kitchen and shut the door. Stinkers aren't they!! |
