First time away from puppy We are going to have to leave Gizmo for two days! It is necessary (husband's surgery), and we can't take him with us. I have arranged for friends to puppysit, packaged food for several days in the fridge, arranged for my adult son to watch him during the night (at our house), made lists of instructions, left several Yorkie reference books out in the open, put the vet's phone number and information about a 24 hour emergency vet on the fridge.... I am such a nerd!! LOL Tell me I'm not alone! Did anyone else do this the first time they had to leave their yorkie for a few days? |
I've never had to leave them other than going for appointments or some such thing, but I know I'd have a very long list for anyone who took care of them. :) |
Oh man! You are NOT a nerd. We had to leave Rowdy with my daughter just a couple of months after we got him - a pre-paid vacation, planned before we even thought about getting Rowdy. I was a total wreck and freak - I did exactly what you did - I called every day - sometimes several times a day. You know what! He did GREAT! Take care, hope your hubby's surgery is a success!!! |
Thank you! I don't feel so strange now. :) |
I did this the first and only night I've been away from Wobie. And it was only one night and into the afternoon of the next day, so I know I'm crazy! |
Home again! My husband's back surgery went well, but he stayed in the hospital an extra day. So, we were gone for two nights. Gizmo did very well! My friends and my son took wonderful care of him! Thanks for your well-wishes and prayers. |

I'm so glad to hear that your husband's surgery went well and that Gizmo did well too! :) |
Sending prayers and happy thought to your husband, may he have a speedy recocery, and im happy everything went well with gizmo:) |
Thank you! :) [I'm a teeny tiny bit disappointed that he didn't miss me more, but I will get over it!] I'm mainly glad that he's so confident and well-socialized. He was very glad to see me, and I'm truly thankful that he wasn't miserable. The funny thing? I didn't think my husband had bonded with Gizmo that well, but I think he really missed the puppy! It was cute. |

Continued wishes for a speedy recovery for your hubby! |
Slade has never been w/o me except the day he got neutered. With Laney I have left her ONCE overnight with my MOM and I still left 3 pgs of instructions. I know she raised me and did a pretty good job, but I just didn't know how she would do with a puppy :D |
Happy to hear all went well, for your hubby and Gizmo...I've never had to leave Winston with anyone, I can only imagine how crazy I'd be if I did. He is sooooo attached to us, and us to him for that matter, it's unreal. I once had to leave Spencer with my parents, due to illness in my hubbys family...and I was worried sick about him, although he seemed to adjust very well to them. But now my parents are both gone, and I really don't know who I'd trust with Winston, he is so anti-social, I'm sure he would not adjust as well...hmmmmm...scary thought. And yes my hubby would probably say our boys were and are the lights of his life too. I guess we've been together too long. |

I think Gizmo has brought us closer actually, and we've been married for OMG! 23 years! |
Men...can't live with 'em...and ya can't live without 'em. No, we've been married 27 years...and dated for what seems like an eternity before that, if memory serves me right, 6 years of engagement. I guess we wanted to be sure, didn't want to rush into anything. LOL. But no kids, so our furbabies are our everything. But maybe there's still a little twinkle left... |
