Lost Yorkie-Happy Ending Hi! This is my first post, thought I would share a recent expierience with our Yorkie. Our baby girl, Pippa-10 month old Yorkie, got out of the house on May 24, 2005 when my daughter left for school and forgot to lock the door. The wind blew the door open and I'm sure little one took off like a bandit-thinking one of us would be right behind her to play chase. My husband came home an hour later to find her gone. We immediately mobilized the our friends and family and went everywhere looking for her. My two daughters and I were crying so hard we could hardly speak to anyone. I haven't felt as devastated since one of my family members died!! Anyway, we immediately made posters, went door to door, etc. We didn't find her that night. It thunderstormed that night and my girls and I worried and didn't sleep all night. Of course, I had contacted the animal shelter and first thing in the morning placed ads in all the papers. I went home after only an hour at work the next day because I couldn't stop crying about baby Pippa. I thought she was gone forever because she was so cute, and we live in a University neighborhood with lots of students. When I got home, the answering machine was blinking. It was a University professor who had found Pippa wandering around the English building that morning!! I hopped in my car and sped to the English building and there was my good samaritan holding Miss Pippa! I tried to give him a reward and he said, "I have 2 little dogs at home, and I hope someone would do the same for me". It restored my faith in people! What a good person! Pippa is so happy to be home, and we have put a baby gate at the front door so she can't get out again! Who cares if we have to step over it-we have our baby back!! Who knew you could fall so deeply in love with an animal!! We like to say Pippa ran away to College for the day. P.S. We had talked to so many people that we had several phone calls the next day of college students saying they had seen a "found Yorkie" poster the professor had placed in the English building. Seems everyone was helping us find Pippa! |
Welcome to YT its awsome! I'm so glad you found Pippa. I know its so weird how you fall in love with them soooooo much! |
What a great story! I would hope someone would do that for Coco if, God forbid, she ever ran off. Well welcome to our playground here at Yorkietalk.com. We have lots of fun and addictive conversations here about our love buttons. I've had my little Coco for about a month now. She's the love of my life (don't tell my b/f or family that). She so fun and loving, but unfortunately loves to chew on fingers and toes. She's only 14 weeks old. Welcome and I'm sure you will post more soon, it's addictive. |
Awwwww! Wow, so many stories I read are those of indecent humans and your's is so very uplifting. I am so thrilled you received your Pippa back safe and sound. Thank God for people like the University Professor!! :p "Welcome Home Pippa!!" |
That story gave me goose-bumps. I'm so glad everything worked out. :) |
Welcome to our wonderful family, and I'm glad your ordeal ended with a happy ending. |
Welcome to YT, So glad you got your little Pippa back. |
Found yorkie.. Wow what a great story and happy ending. Glad you got your baby back and welcome! |
So happy for you, but......... I am so glad that you got your baby back, but I wanted to warn you, my pups learned how to jump a baby gate within two hours of my purchasing, please do not rely on it to keep your baby safe. I have had a total of four yorkies in my lifetime and they come with springs in their feet. My boys have always been able to jump from a sitting position to my shoulders and I am not that short (5 ft 3 inches), so please consider something a bit higher and stronger. |
I bet you would give anything to have her tell the story of her ADVENTURE!! Gone all night! Wow. I would have just died. I am so glad your story had a happy ending. It does restore your faith in humanity. thank you so much for sharing. |
baby gate The baby gate is between the door and the screen when we are home, and Pippa has to go in Alyssa's room with the gate when we are not home now. I don't ever want to go through that again! We are also trying to teach her not to run to the door and I think she's getting it. Whenever I go to the door, I look around for her, make eye contact and tell her to "stay back". She gives me that sideways head tilt, as if to say "what's your problem, mom?" I definetely know what you mean about the springs!! I'm sure she could clear that gate if she wanted, so we will be extra careful. One funny thing that happened after we found her, we walked the neighborhood and took down the "lost dog" signs, and people would clap and wave at us. Apparently the whole neighborhood was on the lookout for our renagade girl. |
Ooooohhhh!!! I got chills when I read your post! I just can't imagine! You are so blessed to have an entire community supporting you and your baby! I am sooo happy that this story had a fabulous ending! Having a Yorkie baby is like having a newborn...Live and Learn! |
