What to clean ceramic tile with that isn't toxic What does everybody use to clean ceramic tile that won't hurt the pups or the tile and grout. I used to use just water. But now that the pups are being trained and have accidents, I'd like to use something that will give the house a clean smell, neutralize the odor but not hurt the pups. Also, I've heard that "Febreeze" is toxic for dogs. Is there any other spray that a person can use on furniture and pillows that is safe? :) |
I have no answer about a cleaning solution but i do want to know about the febreeze. Anyone? |
Vinegar and water works wonders! I have tiled floors also and use it. It's cheap, non-toxic, and really works well. |
I use Mr. Clean, I like the smell. I think once dry it is fine. Mostly I clean my floors by hand after vacuuming. Same with the grout, I hand scrub and wipe with sponge. |
It isn't non toxic, but I use lysol + water if I scrub the floor on my hands and knees, lysol wipes if the puppy pees on the floor or Riley misses his litter box, and the lysol floor mate (a special floor cleaning machine for tile and wood floors) when I want to clean the whole floor but am too lazy to use a bucket and rag. LOL! |
I am pretty sure Febreeze isn't toxic. There is an Iams logo on the back of one of the bottles... |
I have wood floors, but I always used to use vinegar & water and it was the best. I prefer to be safe and use all natural products! You never know the long term effects of using these products long term. As far as the febreeze... it was one of those internet urban legends. same as the swifter myth. apparently it appears someone had a vendetta against P&G and started the rumor... even though these two products may be non-toxic.. P&G is notorious for doing animal testing... they torture and kill animals in their research labs, so I wouldnt buy their products anyway. Here is the link regarding the safety of febreeze from the NAIA.... http://www.naiaonline.org/body/artic...s/febreeze.htm |

    Wow! |
I ordered the Zero Odor that I saw advertised .... don't remember where, maybe Animal Planet. It also removes spots ... Toto is totally trained as far as potty but she insists on taking some of her food to the carpet so I have pumpkin stains!! I clean the stone floors with either plain water or water & vinegar. ;) |
We sell and install Tile and have tile & granite throughout the house...vinegar & Water IS the safest - but I use water with a tiny bit of Windex for shine then I usually go over the floors with a towel to dry them - The girls get to do their buffing dance and help me shine after the floor is dry so we all get a workout... |
thank you Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I appreciate the feed back. Today, I clean! :D  |
vinegar and water As far as the vinegar and water mixture goes what do you normally use - 1/2 and 1/2 ? |
