Anyone doing a pup transport please be careful!!!! I got the below message from a fellow rescue, please read below and be careful. Even if you don't do rescue and are just helping someone transport a little one on it's way to his/her new home. CROSSPOSTED: Sent: Sunday, June 10, 2007 8:53 AM My purse was stolen from my van yesterday during a transport. The man approached in his car & asked if we were "selling puppies"; I said no and explained briefly about transports. I walked away to continue transferring the pups. He walked up beside my van, reached in & grabbed my purse from the front seat. He had left his car running, pointed toward the exit, so he was on the highway in seconds. It occurs to me now that transport exchange spots are the perfect place for robberies- lots of women, lots of purses, lots of distractions, because we're focused on the dogs. This happened during daylight, with 6 transport cars present. I've had people stop previously to ask what we were doing, so I didn't think it was unusual. So, please be very careful, especially at popular transport exchange spots. This happened at exit 83B, the Holiday Inn on Parham Rd in Richmond , VA , but it could happen anywhere. The guy was white, had brown hair, in his 30s, in a long silver or light colored 4 door car. Wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, shorts & tshirt. The license plate was registered to someone else, so that didn't help in identifying him. He could have also stolen a dog or puppy like this, which would have been a million times worse. Heads up, fellow drivers, and please pass the word. Leave your purses at home or lock them in your trunk and don't take your eyes off anyone who stops to ask questions. (Especially don't let them approach your vehicle.) Jennifer Reed Richmond, VA |
What a horrible experience. Good posting as a heads up to others. |
Thanks for posting!:animal-pa |
I would've never considered that could happen either. How horrible that it could happen to a person that is doing such a great thing! |
Good advice. I use to do transports all the time, but I never left my purse on the front seat. I kept it in the trunk of the car. This type of crime is getting worse too. Please be very careful. |
OMG! I do transports ALL the time, and would never even think about this. Thank you so much! |
I am so sorry this happened to you. That is so nice of you to take the opportunity to warn others. I hadn't thought about how being distracted with your dog(s) while strangers are asking questions certainly does leaves you off guard. |
