what the Petsmart groomer said i took Troy to Petsmart friday to get a cut because i didn't feel like making an appointment and i just wanted to go in and get all her fur cut off cause i was sick of the matts. well the stylist or whatever they call her wasn't there so i just told them to give her a bath and whatever else they do. the girl did pretty good and i have no complaints about her work. but as i was leaving she said that Troy's coat wasn't shiny and her skin was dry because she had a poor diet. she eats Canidae! she could have at least asked me what i'm feeding her instead of assuming. i just said ok. and walked out. i could have got ugly but she was nice about it so i didn't. i don't know but that kind of pissed me off. i bet if i had told her what i was feeding she wouldn't have known what it was. so is she right? if Canidae is causing her to be dry what else can i use? |
Perhaps just adding a supplement would make a huge difference. Many here (myself included) use Missing Link, others use Salmon Oil or other Omega3 Canin forumulas. |
Missing Link works great! |
thanks! i will have to get some. i didn't think she looked that bad. she wasn't just really dull. she shes just a little dull. i just got my minksheen today. but from what i hear on YT it doesn't work well for cotton coats. |
I use Mnksheen on my girl that has a cotton coat and it works for her. I also condition her coat with Pantene too |
What do you guys think of Nutri-Cal as a supplement? My little Pita loves it. |

I know its not really a supplement for their coats, but I heard that Little dogs could have problems with their blood sugar. And its not a bad thing to give them. I give it to Pita because she isnt a big eater...I worry that she isnt getting all that she needs. |

You can add anything from Missing Link, to Solid Gold supplement (forgot what it's called, but you can find it on www.solidgoldhealth.com), fish oil, flaxseed oil...Any of those things with omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids should make her hair super shiny :) I think the groomer was just trying to help, but at least she could have talked about it, not just assumed that you have her on some low quality food. That would have hurt me too :( Canidae, from what I have read, is a very high quality food! So don't listen to the lady...You're doing a great job! |
Don't worry about what she said. You're doing a great job, just find a good supplement to go along with the good food you're feeding. I use Missing Link. |
Most (not all) Petsmart employees are not knowledgable. They think they know but they have no idea. Sometimes, they think they can speak just because they groom your baby. They think they're the 'breed doctor'. They make themselves look stupid and I would pay attention to people like that. |
I use Missing Link, but don't worry too much about what a PetSmart employee said. |
I have also read a thread on here once, that coconut oil is great for their coat. |
