im SO SCARED! my yorkie is 3 months old and today she went crazy running and jumping everywhere! she even bark a few times. whats wrong with her?! someone help me! |
Sounds like you witnessed the "zoomies" for the first time, it's just part of being a yorkie:) |
Awwww I call that the "crazies" where they get a burst of energy and go silly for a bit. Mine still do it :) |
what do you mean "zoomies?" can you tell me, because i have NO idea whats going on. |
in a playful way???? I dont get why your scared??? When they get overly excited or happy they do laps jumping and barking like a total burst of energy. Was it like that? |
Okay did she look like a Rabbit on Crack? If do then thats the zoomies. What you feel like after drinking an energy drink. |
yeah it was. she just kept jumping and running and she barked like two times. she used to be so calm so i was a little scared that something was wrong. |

I know that mine tend to do that after they get wet or when they are playing with each other. They just run as fast as they can and bark and really are just playing. |
Happy Rabbit Mostly be afraid of lethargic times not the go go go times.....Mine do it after they poop sometimes, get a whiff of something that excites them or the wind blows right....Diggy did it last night while playing with Bella and he kept tripping and hitting his head on the wall...he is also 3 months....his butt get real low he runs like a rabbit and bobs his head up and down..... GO PLAY WITH HER...she wants to play :D :D :D |
morgan does this too! she did it today after her bath to help dry off. its hilarious. |
She's just playing and having fun!! Doesn't sound like anything is wrong! ;) |
This thread is too funny...even though it didn't start that way. It sounds like your furbaby is having what everyone is describing which I call Kobi turning into "psycho dog". He'll be sitting on my lap or snuggling, then all of a sudden it's like someone turned his switch to on and OFF he goes........pretty funny! |
Gizmo does this right after dark in the evening. Someone told me that it relates to their rat-chasing ancestry. We call it his "Go Go Gizmo" fit! It's funny to watch, but I guess it would be scary the first time if you didn't know about it. |
That just helped me rememebr when Bella was about 6 months old....we go lay in bed at 10 every night for our shows (tv) and Bella would come with us and just as we got settled she'd sneak out.....then we would hear this gawd awful hollerin and running and Boom Boom...then more yelling ...you would have thought she had gone NUTS....If I walked downstairs she would be sitting in the middle of living room looking all innocent ....so I had to start sneaking and it was her just going balistic and beating the heck out of her princess purse....MMy hubby would say....Bella hit the pipe again.....lmao she was BoNkErS  |
Bella does this too. She gets all crazy and runs back and forth, skidding across the wood/vinyl floors. It's hilarious :p |
Same here...And if I'm in the basement doing laundry...I swear it sounds like a herd of elephants running around upstairs. Yes it's the zoomies...and yes it's hilarious to watch, and hear!!! |
Yep, its a normal thing alright. We call Adie the roadrunner when she gets her motor running. She likes to slip in a rear attack on Cassie as she passes by. I think every dog does that at one time or another. Consider it to be a sign of security. She feels sooooooooooo good she is about to burst and has to expel the energy. It is adorable! |
"Rabbit on Crack" perfect wording:D Yep Buddy does that exact thing. Picture a 15lbs Yorkie taking off like the wind out of nowhere and running down the hall into the bedroom under the bed out the other side back down the hall jumping on the couch running the lengh jumping onto the love seat jumping on the floor running around the coffee table back down the hall under the bed again and repeat it all over panting like a mad dog and doing it all over again.:p It' hysterical to watch. Of course I egg him on by clapping my hands as he runs right past me completeing his course.:) |
We call that "the wild dog" or "butt tucking" (bc they run so fast their back legs and butt get in front of their front legs. hehe). It's hilarious! I love it when my dogs do it! |
We call it whizzing or zooming..... My guys will start a game of chase and they become "superdog" leaping up on and flying off of furniture, Boo the elderly Boxer and anything else in their way. They look like small furry speeding torpedoes..... |

With your puppy, I think maybe she was just finally "coming into her own." I don't think puppies always are comfy in their new surroundings, so they are cautious and quiet initially. |

Same here! Miko does laps around the house all crazy and he doesn't bark, but he makes little noises. LOL! It's hysterical! :) |

Lol I know you were serious when you started this thread...I can only hope you understand Yorkies much better now. Zoomies, GO GOes, or whatever you want to call it, it is pretty darn funny!:lol tears When Emmy starts the obstacle course thingy, I, too, egg her on by clapping and chasing! It is just too much fun to miss out on it. Now that we have little Oscar (since Friday), he is joining in on the fun. They will tussle with each other and then WATCH OUT! They are on the run...it is soo funny!:doghop: :doghop: |

I have heard these acts called "FRAP". Frequent rapid activity period....My little Pita goes on Fraps, I also had a beagle go on Fraps. He would just start bouncing off the walls until he would exhaust himself. It was fun..he would have blast entertaining himself. I wouldnt be scared...I would sit back and enjoy the happiness!! |
My little Pita also rubs her face on everything she can after a bath...it is sooo fun. Im glad Im not the only one that gets to witness how cute that is! |
