You mentioned that you grabbed her and little roughly and scolded her when you were disciplining her. My Yorkies are very sensitive and I am careful not to be rough with them or use a loud voice. I read somewhere that they know when you are upset by the tone of your voice and you don't need to use a loud voice but use a stern voice. I discipline them in a voice that is no louder than my speaking voice but maybe a little deeper. I tell them "I am not happy with you, don't do it again" or something like that in a tone of voice they they can see I am not happy with them. They understand this and they feel bad but not scared of me. I never use "bad dog", I just don't like saying that. It seems to work for me. I think she will warm up to you pretty soon. I would just keep my voice more calm and keep treats handy so when she comes to you she will get a reward. I think our two like me and my husband equally. They like to hang out with me but daddy gives them the best belly rubs. |
please look at OP other thread! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82758 |
I read your entire post, and you didn't call him by his name once. Its "the dog" or "it". That's why he haven't bonded with you, you are not giving him any respect. I suggest taking him for walks, just the both of you. Play with him 1 on 1, teach him a trick, all of these activities helps you to bond with your baby. Hope this helps.:) |
Oh, I forgot to mention in my post on the other thread that they tend to bond a lot with the person who feeds, grooms, and trains them. Maybe you can start to feed him and brush his hair Gently, and give him treats until he gets used to you. |
