I'm a Terrible Mommy! Today I went to Lacrosse - about 2 1/2 to 3 hrs from Madison depending on traffic. A co-worker got married and had the reception on a luxury boat. I left at 10:00 am and expected to be home tonight about 10:00 pm. My friends offered to come over and check on Tink, let her out, make sure she got some water, play with her. I told them to come over about 2:00 and then they were going to come back about 4:00 and take her home with them after a graduation party. I was planning to get her when I got home. Well, at 2:20 I got a call on my cell that the key I left for them didn't work in the door! I gave them my extra key and had never checked it in the lock. Poor Tink was stuck in her crate! I called the emergency maintenance number and left a message for them. They called me back, but wouldn't go over and let my friends in because they didn't know if I was who I said I was and they certainly didn't know my friends. I can't blame them, but I was sure hoping they would do it. We were on a boat in the middle of the Mississippi and I had to wait for us to get back to the pier before I could head back home and it's a 2 1/2 hr drive if all goes well. We got back to the pier at 5:00, by the time we got off the boat and my friend retrieved my car it was 5:45. We raced home! I made the trip in 2 hrs. Traffic was flying so I flew with it. Tink was frantic to get out of her crate but she didn't potty in it at all. Bless her little frightened heart. I've never left her that long and then to leave her cooped up in her crate for all that time with just having had hip surgery. Good grief, I deserve to be labeled and hung on a pole. "Here hangs Susie, mother of Poor Little Tinkerbelle, the maligned and mistreated darling Yorkiepoo of Madison." Then, she gives me a thousand kisses all over my face! I don't deserve her! But, I'm awfully glad to have her. |
You are a good mommy !!!!!!!!! stop it ! She is ok and still loves you. |
I'm glad she's OK. You are not a bad mommy. You thought you had made proper arrangements for her. You just have to take a deep breath, she's fine. And she's obviously so full of love for you she just has to kiss you. I'm glad she's doing so well after her surgery! Repeat after me....I am a great Mommy, Tink loves me and knows how much I love her. |
Let's see she did not potty in her crate, she was upset alittle and she gave you thousands of kisses.....I would say you are a good mommy, and Tink must agree she was thrilled to see you. |
Poor Tink. She was probably thinking "what is going on?" Thank goodness she was able to hold her potty, and didn't hurt herself inside the crate. Things happen though, and we suffer guilt because we love them so very much. You are a wonderful Momma to Tink. |
awww, you are the best mommy. I'm sure your day was ruined more than hers! |
awww you're not a bad mommy because if you were, you wouldn't be feeling so bad and being so hard on yourself! Tink loves you unconditionally, and she knows you love her the same! Sometimes things happen that are beyond our control, but Tink is safe and happy to have mommy back home.:) And what a good little girl for holding it so long!:) |
Tink thinks you're a great mommy...I'm sure she got some much needed rest today. You did all that you could do, and you didn't even get a speeding ticket...lucky you!!! She probably didn't get frantic...until she saw you were frantic...they can tell when we're upset. So don't fret over it, everything is fine...Tink's fine, and she showed it with all those doggie kisses!!! |

Aw, the little Winston!:) |
Oh Susie,Susie, Susie.... you are NOT a bad mommy to Miss Tinker. If she was mad at you, she wouldn't have kissed you to death! But if you insist that you are such a bad mom  , maybe you should send on over..:D I know it is an awful feeling when we realize something like that. I think I had to leave mine for about 6 hours once and I'm sure I was way more upset than they were. Just give her a little extra love and a treat and you'll both feel better! :) |
I agree you are a great mommy! If you were bad, you would have said, Oh well, Tink can hold it, I'm just going to party on and not worry about it. You obviously did everything you could to try to get her out, and I'm sure your day was ruined thinking about your poor baby. Now, that's a good mommy. |
Oh, honey, it's okay! I know how you feel that "mommy guilt" though. I lived in Madtown for 4 years....I loved it! I still miss it, such a great town. |

Absolutely:thumbup:  |
Hmmmm... I suggest you open the fridge door, the cupboard you keep the treats in and go straight into Tinks create... for at least 6 hours... I'll send Mitzi over to help Tink with the more difficult tasks when it comes to open boxes and packages... THAT'LL TEACH YOU!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :animal36 :animal36 :animal36 |
So has Tink totally forgiven you? I bet she's forgotten all about it already. I really do think it was harder on you knowing you couldn't get to her fast enough then it was on Tink...do you think she can tell time...did she really know how long she was alone? I'd bet money that she slept right thru it all...and was just so very happy to see you...when you were finally able to get home...Hugs to you both! |
aww, she knows you're a good mommy and she loves you giving you thousands of kisses. Look at the second quote in my sig ;) |
You're a good Mommy, you chose to rush home as soon as you were on dry land. She's okay, and she knows you love her. |
don't be upset! i have to leave my little coco from 7am to 4:30pm every day :( |
I know exactly how you feel!! I had a similar situation happen w/my yorkie poo boy Bentley when I first got him.. I had made arrangements for someone to come over to my home about 2 hours after I headed to a friends party at an amusement park. They were to stay with him, walk him, ect... and they had an emergency and just didn't come! I felt bad about the emergency they had going on, but they could have at least called to tell me. To say the least, I didn't trust them after that point anymore and my poor boy was in his crate nearly 9 hours :(. I felt terrible and apologized a million times, but he was no worse for the wear <3 You did the best you could, it's okay! :) |
Come talk to me when you forget your child in his car seat on your kitchen floor when you are leaving to go to the grocery store.....lol I only made it a block or 2, but wow did I feel horrible! Your fur baby is fine and spend your time lovin on her instead of feeling guilty! Take Care. |
Awwwwwwww you are NOT a bad mommy! Everyone is ok now and she LOVES you!!!!! |
Thanks everyone for the kind words and support. You are right - she is just fine and I really don't think she does remember. Except, when it was time to go to church this morning, she WOULD NOT go in her crate. I had to chase her all over til I finally caught her in the bathroom and stuffed her in it. She looked at me and I felt like she was saying "Yeah, how long this time?!" But when I got home 2 hrs later, she was sleeping on top of her stuffed puppy. If nothing else, I learned that she really can hold her tinkle as long as she want to. |
aww you are not a bad mommy. Tink probably was sleeping the entire time and didn't realize how long you were gone. Sure she had to potty but she's a good girl and held it. :) she's probably forgotten all about it by now |
YOU ARE A GOOD MOMMY!!!!!!!!!! TINK LOVES YOU!!!!!!!!!! You had all your bases covered.............it was't your fault! All is well in Tinkerbrat Land!!:D |
Oh you are not awful! They forgive us for all our short comings! Like forgetting to check keys! Or in my case, cutting his leg with the scissors when trying to cut a mats out! :) Alls well that ends well! Tinks lucky to have a mom so dedicated to her! (after just reading another post by someone I wont name, you are the best mom in the WORLD) |
Oh Dear, it's ok, it's happened to one or all of us at one point or another, I can definitely say it's happened to Vinnie once. Things happen, life is unpredictable but they love us unconditionally, as you saw when you got 1,000 kisses. Give her lots of extra kisses! |
AWE! Don't worry! I'm sure she just slept the whole time you were gone anyway! Some days Hootie and Hobbs are left in their crate from 8:15am-5:15pm with no problems at all. |
