"Where is Mya?" My husband reminded me that I don't have to take Mya EVERYWHERE. He was scared when I told him (last week) I was at a dollar store and heard " You distract her and I will grab it" I was thinking, Who the hell would want to steal anything from a dollar store? I quickly figure it was Mya they were talking about. She was in the baby seat of the buggy. The woman quipped "It is too small" I had her in a large purse instead of her usual carry bag. If they did not look so scary looking I would of reamed them out. Instead I gave them the look that makes the children and the husband run *grin* Anyway today I took Mya to my Doctor's office as I usually do and then to the mall. I bought a stroller at Walmart for, get this, $12.00. It is an umbroller stroller and I simply unscrewed the screws that holds the seat in and removed the seat. Mya's carry bag fits perfectly in the frame. So we caused even more attention at the mall with her being in the stroller. Which is good because I want her to socialized to be a therapy dog. We met friends, and my in laws who passed her around to all their friends (Mya was soooo happy), then went visiting and got home four hours later. Mya is loosing teeth and so I left her at home in the cool air conditioning, sleeping in her bed in her cage when I went for my 8th Dental appointment (don't ask....lol) Anyway.....the staff of 10 at the office were REALLY bummed out that she was not there.... all 10 of them asked "Where is Mya????" They were so bummed out that she was there. That experience at the Dollar Store almost made me want to keep her locked up at home but hearing today how happy she makes people made me realize that I should not make one bad experience ruin it for Mya, Myself and everyone that loves her. |
If those people at the store were talking about Mya, could they have been teasing? I've done stupid things like that just to start a conversation with people. But I know how scary it can be. When my youngest son was 2 yrs old we were in a store and a bunch of people crowded around us to admire him. What was so scary about that is that I had recently read an article that said most children who are stolen are blond and blue eyed. So was my son at that age. Sylvia |
That is so cute! The stroller and all! I love taking my babies with me for the same reason. They cheer everyone up and everyone smiles at you! It is such a change from the ordinary grouchy people you run into! I saw the neatest pet stroller this week. It was a breeder who was showing me her puppies. It looks like a toddler stroller except it has screening and it zips closed. It has lots od storage and. I think I am going to get one! It will be great for the mall. As for the dollar store, yorkies are the number 1 most stolen dog in the country so never ever ever let your baby out of your sight when you are away from home. I even worry about the vets office and I let them know my fear so they keep an extra eye on them. |
Wow, that is very scary to hear someone threaten to steal your Yorkie! :( Going anywhere, we've always got to keep a close eye on our Yorkies, whether the danger comes from other dogs, hawks, or humans! That'll be cute to see Mya being driven around in a stroller, that's pretty fancy! :) |
Let this thread be a warning, dont let any stranger hold ur baby, u turn a second and they can be gone! when ur baby is in a carrier, tie the harness onto the leash its there for more then one reason! Be carful with these babies, they are precious and very wanted!! |
I would have snatched her up next to me, and told them if you try I'll break your arms and your legs. If they said we were only joking. I would say me too. Isn't that funny. |
When people get too close to mine ...and I don't like the look of them - I just say - "SHE BITES"...works like a charm |
Great advice Villette! |
have you ever taken her to the grocery store? or wal-mart or target? cause i want to take my baby, but im so afraid that they will ask me to leave... im a scardy cat  have you been anywhere where they asked you to take the doggie outside? |
I take Tucker with me to K-Mart, Blockbuster, CVS, Bookstores, Subway once and Target the other day - he rides on top of my purse in the child seat. I figured if anyone responded negatively, I would have just said, " Oh, I'm sorry, since you carry a considerable line of doggie clothes, I just figured it would be ok to bring him in to sort of check for size..." One woman really made me smile when she saw him by saying " Oh, how sweet - they're so much better behaved than children." Of course, I totally agreed... All you can do is try and see what happens - for further information you may want to search some of Kim's (SoCalyorkiLvr) posts to find out the best ways to go places with your baby. Good Luck!!! It is so cute how every one at your doctor's office missed Mya. I go to happy hour at a local bar that has a patio and Asia goes with me. On fridays it is to crowded and I'm afraid she might get stepped on so she stays home. Everyone keeps asking me "were is Asia". She is more popular that I am. :D |
