marking territory
Hey all, still getting the swing of this yorkie mommy thing. Seems like lately Tobie (7 months almost) has been peeing on everything....when we go out side he used to squat to pee and still does, but he finds the same plant/tree/post and cocks his leg up to pee. I caught him in the house trying to do it last night to a pillow. Someone told me he is marking his territory.....just curious if anyone else that owns a male has gone through this and what they do to deal....he's getting neutered on the 20th and just wondering if it gets better after that?
I have confined him to the bedroom now and started limiting his access to the living room which he had free run, we tried the kitchen with the gate up, but he jumped over it again....and I don't want to have to stack up two gates until its a last resort....knock on wood, he's done okay in the bedroom...seems a little frightened when I come home....I assume he wonders if I have left him forever...since its a change in his normal routine.
