He is definatley pure Yorkie and those kids were pure morons!! I can never figure out why people feel the need to express their negativity to total strangers. He is a cutie and don't let people like that get to you then they win. |
That is just ridiculous! Your baby is obviously 100 percent YORKIE YORKIE YORKIE! Even if he wasn't (which is so not the case) they DO NOT have the right to act like they did and be little snots. I would be calling the manager or someone at Petco and really making this known that you will tell EVERYONE you know not to shop at Petco because they have awful employees who act like SNOTS. Your baby is absolutely beautiful, and I am just appauled that someone would say those things. Keep doing what you're doing...it sounds like you're a great yorkie momma :):):):):) |
You poor thing!!! Koda is gorgeous and he looks 100% Yorkie to me! And 3lbs 10oz at 3 months isn't all that extraordinary...he's fine! I am so sorry that those boys humiliated you and made you doubt yourself. I am sure you are a GREAT mom to Koda. |
I know how you feel. I have a 12.5lb AKC registered yorkie. When people ask what he is I just say he's a yorkie, just on the big size. Some people give me that no way it's a yorkie look, but I've never had anyone fight me on it, except this one guy I know & he was just givin me a hard time. Logan has a very terrier head (not baby doll) & a lot of people think he's a Cairn terrier. Oh well I just smile & tell them no he's a yorkie & walk away once logan gotten all the attention he desires. I don't care that he's not the perfect example of a yorkie. He's the sweetest friendliest dog ever & cute to boot. And I think your little man is adorable. I would go back into that store & find that boy. Act like you are there to apologize. Say something like I'm sorry I got defensive I was having a hard week you were just trying to educate me. What was your name again? & your friends name? Then as soon as you acquire that information ask to speak with their manager. |
Never been to Petco and now I'll make it a point to not go. This just blows me away, your furbaby looks like a yorkie to me. Too bad people don't realize all yorkies don't look or weigh the same. My daughter has a male and I have a female (both from the same breeder) same dad different moms and they certainly don't look alike but are both akc registered yorkies. I would most certainly find out who these guys are and report them to the manager. What they did to you was out and out harassment and needs to be stopped now. |
Koda is a beautiful YORKIE puppy! Don't take it too hard. Because Ozzie has always far exceeded "standards" I am always getting asked if he is a mix and if I say no I am inevitably asked "Are you sure?" I would tell these snot-nosed kids that at least Koda's parents have something to be proud of ...:D |
I am so sorry that happened to you. First off, I would be sure to call that Petco and speak to the manager about what happened. It was totally uncalled for and just plain RUDE!!! The fact that they continued to harass you about it makes it worse! I'd even write a letter to their corporate office!! Who made them the experts? They are probably just there for a job. I had a similar experience happen to me at Petsmart, a trainer asked me if Prince was a purebred yorkie. She told me that he was too big to be purebred, and that he looked like he had schnauzer in him (long story...he only looked like that after they'd given him a bad cut..it's in my thread) anyway...at 3 months, Prince was 3.5 lbs. He's now 5 months and 7 lbs. I got a lot of encouraging words here and I also spoke to his vet. Buth told me that Prince is just a bigger Yorkie. He may not be the "standard", but he's 100% Yorkie. I actually love the fact that he's bigger...I don't have to worry so much about him getting hurt. Don't let those stupid people get you down or question your baby. He's absolutely adorable and don't let anyone make you think any differently! |
OMG that is horrible. I cannot believe they said that to you. He looks like a yorkie to me. People have asked that about my little one, I just say that they are uneducated and do not know what they are talking about. |

I would have went off on them!! :mad: I noticed that you live in Ohio... if the Petco is in the Cincinnati area please do tell which one. Wow, seems some people have no shame or tact whatsoever. Is that their freaking business what someone's puppy looks like? That employee prob saw one picture of a grown up Yorkie in his short and ignorant life and wanted to be a smart a$$... Please don't be upset, your Koda looks Yorkie to the T (or Y? ;) ) and don't let some stupid comment by an undereducated person bring you down ok? Lol its petsmart for me from NOW ON! ive gotten rude comments from petco employees also about my lab. i was walking her and one of the employees, "shouldnt a pretty lil CHICK like you have a chihuahua or something?" I'm sorry that you had to deal with the ignorance of those kids. They need a little more training in the customer service department. Your Koda looks like a pure bred yorkie to me. I guess that they're use to seeing people come in with the tiny ones and they've stereotyped how a yorkie should look. Shame on them and how they were behaving. I don't blame you for being so upset and you better start complaining. NO ONE should have to put up with that kind of abuse!!!! :thumbdown |

When i get a yorkie, i want to get a yorkie and borrow my best friends Doberman. if anyone sais anything negative, ill let them get a good look at the doberman and say "excuse me..do you really want to say that again? i didnt feed him this morning.." lol :P jk |

He looks all Yorkie to me too...And he most certainly does have a sweet face. That's so horrible how rude those two were. I'm sure they would act the same if they saw my little/big guy weighing in over 11 lbs. I'm not saying yours is too big...but, I feel all breeds can run big. I hope you do complain big time about those ignorant little twerps. |

Koda is very sweet looking and you were definitely meant to be a yorkie mom! You are a great mom! Mom's always feel really bad when someone says something completely awful about our children (fur and skin kids), so you are doing what any fabulous mom would do! And I love his little face. Yorkies are yorkies, all shapes and sizes, same temperment, intelligence and beauty. Seriously, has anyone ever seen an ugly yorkie? They don't exist! |

This is so upsetting. My Mother In Law also has a Yorkie:aimeeyork ( Actually she is the one who made me want one:D ) He is going to be 3 this year ( He is so cute) He is 16 LBS. Eveybody thinks he is a silky but hes a purbread Yorkie! My LullaBelle is a year and is 7LBS and She is Purbread too. Now about those guys at Petco... I am sorry you had to go through that it was so rude to say the least! I would write to their coporate office, and to the local paper about your experience. Send this thread to there Corporate Email and see if you get a response. I bet you will. Just remember you are so much better than those punks and you proved it by not blowing up at them. I am sure they were egging you on to get a negative response out of you:mad: , and you did the right thing by not giving it to them. Horrible experience I am guessing that brain-dead employee has never seen a Yorkie PUPPY--he is probably gaging Koda's "looks" on pictures of full-grown Yorkies he's seen. I have heard many uninformed people be shocked at how different Yorkies look as babies vs. full-grown. |

They think Koda is big! They should see Buddy:p I'd love to do battle with them. I have said the samething to someone who once asked me if "HE WAS A REAL YORKIE" I said he's breathing so I guess he's real;) and continued on my way. I would have asked for a manager, although they aren't put together any better, been there and done that, and reported them right infront of customers. Embarrass the dumbo's that's the only way they will learn to keep their traps closed. Sorry you went through that but some people are just plain ingnorant:mad: |

He is a purebred but people are rude to us about him because they think that all Yorkies should look like the exact standard....just not how genetics always work.
