She is loosing the hair around her eyes Help!!! Reghan looks like she is loosing the hair around both her eyes. There are a couple of tiiny sores around the area too, and she keeps scratching her ear and above her eye. I keep checking and nothing is there. I was thinking allergies, but this morning her eyes were wattering and it had a weid smell. it was clear, but just smelled weird. Her eyes are not red or anything it is just the area surrounding them.HELP!!!!!!!!Thanks guys:) |
I would definitely take her to the vet. It sounds like it could be mange or an allergy. Please get her checked out. |

I have no idea why she would be losing hair and getting sores but a couple months ago (right after Ellie had surgery) her eyes got really watery and it smelled funny. We didn't think much of it until a week and a half ago when we saw some cream colored discharge. She was diagnosed with Conjunctivitis. The vet put her on antibiotic drops for 10 days and that has cleared up the cream discharge for the most part. I am hoping it will take care of the watery eyes and weird smell also or it is another trip to the vet. |
OK, I know this won't be much help but I remember not too long ago taking Murfee in to the vet for something or other and one of the questions he asked was if he was losing the hair around his eyes. He wasn't but the vet seemed concerned about it if he was:confused: :confused: :confused: Sorry I can't remember what it was, but I would take him in if I were you. Patty |
demodectic mange sounds like the baby has mange (demodectic)...they get it from their moms.. sometimes self heals, but take the babe to the doc and get some treatment. roxanne in nc |
I was by someone that if you don't clean out the eye boogers daily then that could lead to hair loss around the eyes, don't take my word on that though. If there is a weird or bad smell, definitely time to visit the vet. |
That sounds like Demodectic mange and she should see a Vet. ASAP. Poor baby. Hope you can get her treatment really soon. |
thanks guys i am gonna call the vet in the morning and see about gettin her in tomorrow!they were closed today:confused: !!!!! |
