bellas nails are soo long, what do i do? bellas nails are soooo long right now!!! the vet said i need to have her sedated and then they can clip and file them down to normal length bc they said her quick has grown out too much!!! has anyone heard of this before??? |
You can clip just the very tips, and then in about 4-5 days, clip the tips again, and keep doing that until you get them back to where they are supposed to be. :) |
really??? ok thanks soo much!! i am going to try that before i have to put her through that whole mess! thanks soooo much again! |

Your welcome :) It works, and is much better than having to put them under unnecessarily. |
Layla's nails are quite long too.. and that is what we have been doing.. just a milimeter or two every few days and then i file them a bit as well... it is best if you can do it after a bath when the nails are soft and have someone else hold her. Try and get some of that septic (sp?) powder in case you do cut her (but flour dabed on the end works well too!) |
yea i think i will get septic powder just in case...lol....she is due for a bath anyways, so i will just bathe her and the clip her little nails....thank again everyone! |

sedation for nail clipping seems a little extreme doesn't it? |
My shih poo's nails are very long right now. That's a downside to living alone, no one to hold him so I can cut them. I usually ask my neighbor to come over and help. He acts like he's being tortured. He goes totally DIVA on me, he pants, crys, struggles.. puts on a big show. |

i know i am soooo excited and proud of myself...hehe:) |
Isn't it funny how scary clipping can be? Marcel (6 mths) is a total breeze, bc he's never been hurt by it. But Wylie's quick was cut by multiple groomers (grrrrr) - he became terrified of it. Now, we're doing it ourselves - had to start out totally confining him in a tight towel and he struggled like heck - finally, we've advanced to holding him tightly (w/out towel) and it's finally getting better. |
